Lest there be any confusion about what was done and why, we are updating the GAF Department map to reflect a decision made some time ago.
In the past, some states were split between two Departments, making it difficult for some members to figure out what Department they were in, and difficult for the Department Commanders to know where their territory began and/or ended.
Consequently, after discussion with the Department Commanders, we decided to put an entire state within a particular department. Probably the most noticible change was putting all of Alabama and Mississippi into the Department of the Atlantic.
As the Departments grow in members, we'll eventually create additional Departments from the existing ones - which should make it easier to hold regional Musters and other activities by putting them within a reasonable distance. This will reduce the Department commander's overall territory, but should make it easier to manage.
