Help, please... identifying this clip

I have recently acquired a steyr hahn.
In the process of getting it to full functionality I started getting clips. One of the batches I purchased did not turn out to be the right clips, though they appear similar.  I would like to figure out what it could be so I can identify what new gun i need to buy or find a new home for them.
They are slightly curved and smaller than a 9mm diameter (so not for 223 or 556 either) so I assume something smaller, but im not familiar with anything smaller.  I am assuming military, because who else clips their ammunition? (That would be fun to learn as well!) Any insight would be helpful!

p.s. I hope they are victorian era, since I'm starting here with my search.

I wonder though they look similar to the flat steyr hahn clips that I have similar construction too with the spring in between the other parts of the clip.  The lack of the holes on the outside surface also made me question whether they could be the c96.  They definitely resemble the c96 clips.

Is the base of the 7.63 brass narrower than a 9mm? (The part where the round would be in the clip)

I hate to question the Major, but where did you get your rim dimension for the 9mm?  I believe the 9x19 Parabellum has the same rim diameter as the 7.63x25 Mauser, i.e. approximately .393 inch.

I cut and pasted and I screwed it up 

9MM   Rim diameter   9.96 mm (0.392 in)

Then I went out to the loading room and used my calipers...
I got Mauser PPU Brass @  0.391 in   and my 9mm Federal Factory load @ 0.392

Here is a little more what I'm seeing as the problem...
      The opening on the clip is .308
      The 9mm is .334

Major, following your lead...

I went out to the reloading room and dug through the strange brass collection.. the onesies and twosies as I find them... I tried a couple different brass in these until I found some that move pretty easy, but still have tension on them... I believe they might be 30 Carbine clips... does that seem like a possible fit?
