The Pettifogger papers are missing
« on: December 29, 2019, 08:12:09 AM »
Wanted to look through Mr. Pettifogger's tutorials on tuning Pietta and Uberti revolvers (I have Uberti 1851 London model inbound), and I am getting "Page Not Found" messages. Are the tutorials now lost in the digital cloud?
 ???

TOR site is no longer. Those files are available from many cowboys and on the SASS forum.

Larsen E. Pettifoggers tips and trix for Pietta and Uberti are also available HERE on CAS City.

OOPS:  Except I can't find 'em.  I know I've seen them in other than Hyperlink to TOR.  I'm so confused

Checked also. Results were "Page Not Found" for all chapters of tuning a cap and ball, including "How to Tune a Open Top Revolver" down in the STORM section. I went to Yahoo and typed in Larsen E. Pettigogger. both with the percussion and Open Top tuning heading and same results. Lost somewhere or deleted by unknown whatever. Around five years ago I copied all of Larsens tutorials and have them in a folder. Makes it handy for reference while at the bench and thought of maybe this day may come. Hope they are put back on for everyone's reading.
Did the same (made copies) of a lot of Mako's posts on nipples and CAD drawings. See most if not all of the pictures on his posts are gone also. :(

Greetings Unhappy Campers

The bad news is that those were in fact just links to the Open Range.

The GOOG NEWS is that just prior to total shutdown Hedley sent me the entire website backed up onto  a Thumbdrive!

I am now in the very slow process of uploading selected stuff to CAS , and also over to the Wayback Machine. It will take a little time since I am also doing household stuff and gluing together 3 dresser kits for the bedroom....

And the frame wrench, i gotta build the new frame wrench,
And upload the ROA franken fotos...

And groceries before the next blizzard hits New Mexico
And order out the lp conversion for the genset
And a nap

I found them in the Cowboy Chronicle archives June and July 2008 for the cap guns.
Can't remember how I found the archives though.

We should be more careful about 'puter stuff that we care about. Recently we lost my favorite, the Husqvarna papers.

Mako's tech stuff was classic, and I hope not lost forever. Paladin UK is still around, I think, but anyone who treasures his posts should look in.

Well, uploading the Open Range files to CAS City is going to be different, as I can only upload ~ 400k at a time.
until I get that resolved here is a link to the Pettifogger files on the Wayback.

They are pdf only so you need to click on each one to view or download.
if your browser is set up with a pdf viewer it will open automagically.

more later

ok the wayback raw file system is a bit of a mess for most folks.
please see my direct links to each pdf article here
