Looking for a public outdoor range
« on: October 22, 2012, 02:50:16 PM »
Folks,

I am looking for a public outdoor range near the sieged City of Chicago. I am willing to drive an hour one way. I think near Rockford and up in Bristol, WI are public ranges, but I am unsure. Anyone help me out? Thanks...

Bristol is one of the closest around. Rockford is not a public range.. It is a cowboy range on private land.

There is also a small range in Sycamore and another in Ottawa. I guess it depends on where you are in the greater chicago metropolitan area.

There are also some gun clubs around like the one in Plainfield. Tons of trap clubs about as well.

Where are you? I'd be glad to meet you and go shooting.

Hopalong,

I am near O'Scare Airport. The rifles I wish to shoot (once I am done building them) are a bit modern. I would enjoy shooting with you at Bristol once I get things done...

Does Bristol demand any Illinoisans who shoot there have FOID cards?

They do  not require one. I have taken many new shooters to shoot there. None of them had FOIDs at the time though most have them now. Of course to transport your firearms you better have one.
We jused to live 4 miled from O'Hare in Northlake. Not far from the old Bell's Guns.

Let me know when you want to go shooting.

Hopalong,

I shall indeed. It may be a bit since I will need to wait for the receivers to come in to build the rifles...
