Title: Stabler cutoff device
Post by: El Supremo on April 17, 2019, 08:18:47 AM
Hello:

I have learned of an 1860 Spencer that has a grouping of SEPARATE parts to add a Stabler cutoff.

The parts include a trigger bar, Stabler cutoff lever, screw AND lower breechblock.
These allow the 1860 to be Stabler equipped and then returned to 1860 configuration.
The owner cannot tell me why a separate LOWER block is needed.

Nothing about this presumed lower block difference is mentioned in Marcot.

Any one able to say why/where the block is different and if the lower block for the Stabler will otherwise function in an 1860, please?

Thanks,
El Supremo/Kevin Tinny

Kevin, the difference is , on the 1860 block the grove in the rear of the block is a half circle and on the 1865 it is squared off to match the profile of the cut off.
