These may not be period military positions but they were what I was first taught, If you give them each a try, you'll find one of each (sitting, kneeling and prone) that are the best (most stable) for your body.  Shooting positions are in section 5.

You may also want to look at "Roll Over Prone"  This one is by far my favorite, I haven't used any other prone pistol position for years.

That rollover prone position looks like it may be the most stable pistol position there is, with the entire body/arm/hand resting on the ground.

Last week to get these done, Gentlemen!  (I haven't shot mine yet, either, mostly due to the range being a swamp.)

Hi, same problem.  I should have taken the baby targets to the range Saturday.  I shot a 443 out of 500 with the Schofield in a revolver match, but 8 yards is awful dang close.  Did anybody shoot pistol or if I manage to do that will I win with 4 more or less blank targets?

No need to wait that long.  We're going to try to do this every month, weather permitting.  Some of those in warmer climes may be able to shoot when some of us are digging out of a snow drift...............

Niederlander, sound like something that I?d try but 8 and 13.5 yards? Is this a typo? Seems terribly close to me. Is there a commercial target that would suffice as I don?t have a printer? Now that my knee replacement is on the mend maybe I can actually get into a kneeling or prone position.

The distance is correct. It's that close because it's a really reduced range target. So, no there aren't any commercially available replacement targets. Office Depot (or places like that) should be able to print for you and some libraries have printers you can use as well.

When originally set up, part of the intent was that folks who didn't have access to a 200 yard range could still participate. At 13.5 yards most non-scoped rifles are "on" when they're zeroed for 100 yards
