Hmm.. For S&W, I'd classify WW2 and earlier as "old", since after that they changed to the "short action" design. For GAF purposes, any S&W round butt, with the "pencil barrel", in the 6 shot .38 frame is basically identical to the 1899, so it's good. For Colts, since the 1892 is legendary for it's "reliabilty" , we have been allowing later Colts on the .41 frame, pencil barrel, no shroud, for a substitute. But not the Police Positive, since it's post 1900.
