From the Commissary Officer (Muster Chow)
« on: October 02, 2009, 06:14:16 PM »
OK, things are pretrty well worked out, some of the side dishes are still undecided, as well as deserts, will depend somewhat on what I can get when I shop.

I plan on being up there sometime late on Wendsday, might be near dark.  Most likey will just bring samwhich stuff for me and Salt Crick Rick, with stuff to share if needed. ;D

Anyone who is going to be around Thursday, let me know for a head count.  Thursday is not included in the muster fees, but I will be cooking and we'll just take a donation to cover groceries.

Plan on some sort of late breakfast, early lunch or brunch if you want to call it that.  We ain't gonna get up before dawn on Thursday and will need to set up.

Thursday night will be Chicken Fried steak, smashed taters, sausage gravy and biscuits plus a desert of some kind.  will look kind of like this:

Friday morning will be gravy and biscuits:

No pictures yet. but beef stew for noon on Friday, with bread and dessert.

Roast pork, and fried cabbage on Friday evening along with bread and dessert, I can't get the rub from this picture right no, due to the illness of it's creator, but will be using another rub provided by a good friend who says it's a secrect and won't tell me what it is, but provides me with all I want.

Sat morning will be bacon and scambled eggs, never took any picture of any, but we all know what they look like.

Sat noon. corn bread and bean soup with dessert, no pictures here either, but will fix that then for next time.

Sat night will be post roast, bread and dessert and a side dish:

Sunday morning will be roast beef hash:

Sunday noon will be what I call "Cowboy Cheese Steaks" better than a Philly one with real cheese not the fake kind and served on biscuits:

Greg aka Oscar will not be able to make it, but I will be bringing Salt Crick Rick, another one of my budding students:

I will bring some paper plates and stuff if we need them, but most have a mess kit and wreck pans will be provided along with hot water, and dish soap for everyone to do their dishes with.

MIGHT make it up thursday evening. No mess kit, but can come up with some tin plates I expect. Or maybe an old boy scout mess kit, if I can find it.

My batman and I are "possibles" for Thursday evening ....

Delmonico will undoubtedly recall my past lack of preparation in the mess kit department .....   :(

Entirely unforgivable, considering the quality of the repasts he so skillfully provides!

Accordingly, I have thrown together something of a personal "officer's field mess set" - providing settings for four -  in order to do proper justice to his cuisine ......

Don't have no plans for anything with bell peppers.

CR, the pizza won't happen this year, was a teaching time for Oscar for when you guys were in town and there was leftovers, that one is a bit harder for larger groups, sorry.

I only put them in things that need bell peppers, like stuffed peppers or sometimes Swiss Steak. ;D  However so called Swiss steak came out in the 1920's so I never cook it at events.  How ever although I'm not doing it this time, my 'tamater steak with carrots and onions goes over well.  Good one for when you don't know how many are showin' up.  More show up, cut the meat pieces smaller and add some rice, it will feed a lot more that way. ;D

Got a chicken dish that was invented/discovered that way. ;D
