Shamrock, There were 5 CW Generals killed immediately after saying almost these same words. 3 were Union and two Conferate. One of the Confederate Generals was an ancester of mine, Brig. Gen. Henry Lewis Little. During the Battle of Iuka, MS, he was conferring with Genls. Van Dorn and Price when a Sgt. told them to move back as the battle was getting close. He stood up in the saddle and said ,"There isn't a Yankee bullet that can get this far." or something like that and immediately after his speech, a bullet penetrated his forehead, killing him instantly. Price and Van Dorn were, "visably shaken". He had been a personal friend and neighbor of Price, both with hemp plantations along the Mississippi just outside of St. Louis.
