Hi,  picked up some 8mm lebel cases. Can these be made into 56 50 spencer.?  What other cases could be used?

      Greetings!

Some years ago, I had some .348 Win cases that had split when fire forming to .45-75 Win; these I trimmed to make 56-50 CF brass.
Although the rim diameter was a bit small for reliable extraction in a Romano Spencer 1860 Carbine, they worked very well through my
ArmiSport Spencer Infantry Rifle using the "Layne-Type" extractor.

Thanks, Matt:
Big help for all of us.
Good to see you back on our Forum.
It might help to anneal the 8MM Lebel cases before fire- forming.

For 6th Missp:
If you are stuck for cases, I have a few new STARLINE 56-50's and can send them to you.
If wish, please PM me a UPS delivery address.  Smiles.

Hello, again, 6thMissp (Joel):

As we have discussed via texts and phone, 50-70/90 Sharps cases can be made into 56-50's without mouth reaming
I have used STARLINE's for this. They have the larger rim OD for the blade extractors.  CH4D dies work well, as do the Lyman and RCBS sets I have tried.  Probably wise to anneal after cutting.  Thanks for your generous help with the original Spencer cartridges.  Smiles.
