Made up 15rds of Schofield tonight with the bullet set further out and 30gr by weight of Olde Eynesford. Unsized brass. Cycle through the rifle very smooth and fast. I probably wont make it to the range tomorrow but plan on going this week. If I can find some more fired brass laying around I will load up some more before I go.

Went to the range this morning. Rifle shoots LOW at 25yds. About seven inches or so. Had to flip up the carbine sight and use the lower setting to get it to zero. Was on at 50yds also. Shot smokeless reloads with red dot and BP Schofield rounds. Got about 50 rds of BP before the lifter started to stop going down all the way and bound things up. I was fairly happy with that.
All told I put about 75-80 rounds through it today. I was disappointed in how low it shot as I dont really want to file the front sight. My group's weren't stellar (pie plate at 50yds at best) but I did have my boys with me and was a bit distracted. But we had a great time.
Any disappointment was offset by a Remington LTR I've been working with that I finally got some decent groups at the 100yd range.

One thing I've noticed is as I get older my gun problems tend to be more "me" related. ;D

FWIW my BP Schofield rounds averaged 1115fps for 10 rounds
250gr NEI 454230 hollow base and 30gr 2f Olde Eynesford
Bullet was set out with top lube groove showing.
I did shoot one fully seated with same results.
Same bullet in 45 colt with 35gr OE ran 1217fps

Shooting low is strange.  Most Uberti carbines shoot high at that distance.

I think I would rather it shoot low than high but 7" at 25yds is a bit excessive me thinks.

Going to start a new thread about this and carbine sight picture.

I have a socket, with a bolt thru it, with a nut to hold it, then I chuck it up in my cordless drill.

The base of a Lee Case Trimmer might be simpler?

I've been tempted by these Uberti engraved '66 but was put off by the .45 Colt. Now you guys have me reconsidering.

What bullet diameter usually works best in an Uberti in .45? Missouri's softer (BHN 12), coated bullets are .452". I've had good luck with their bullets in my .38 revolver.
