Next Question...What can SASS improve on ? ?
« on: August 24, 2005, 11:19:36 AM »
Again...please no bashing.

What's one thing that you would like to see improve about SASS?

What's one thing that you would like to see stay the same about SASS?

I would like to see SASS improve on their public relations.  This includes marketing to EXISTING members and making them feel more like members.  Ask for and pay attention to thoughts and ideas expressed by members BEFORE doing things rather having to do so much cleaning up after themselves once they have screwed up.

I hope that SASS keeps growing and the Founders Ranch turns into the success that they have envisioned for it.  I like the plans that they have for the old west town and for growing EOT.

1) FIRE Chiz. Seriously, and I'm not bashing. His presence has been an unmitigated disaster for SASS Inc.

2) Hire a GOOD marketing director.

3) Make an electronic version of the Chronicle available, with all the bells and whistles that make on-line magazines good.

4) Open the Ranch to shooters. Have monthly matches and allow any SASS member to use the range for practice. Get rid of the FoundersLand, I mean Founder's Ranch name. The name alone is exclusionary and makes a person wonder if the residences for the Founders have been built.

5) Stop charging so much for the Convention. It's put on by volunteers, there's no reason for such exhorbitant fees.

6) Make the Wild Bunch stockholders with a board of directors voted in by the membership. They'd still get their money, but the organization would be member driven.

7) Have the alias list available on-line. It doesn't have to include any private info, just a list of used aliases with associated SASS Numbers and status of membership.

Random thoughts off the top of my head,

About the only thing I can think of is explaining to new folks how the scoring system works.  I've had this explained to me a couple of times and I'm still confused!

Hey no fair!  You were supposed to be limited to one so that you would really have to stop and think about what they need to improve upon the most! :o

What would you keep the same?

I wouldn't change anything!  No thoughts on that, but it would be nice if, in the handbook, they would explain how the scoring system works.

But I thought of another one, Cammie!!

8  ) Get a team together and scrub ALL the handbooks and manuals. Make the material consistent and non-contradictory. Even better, combine the actual rules into ONE handbook. When changes are made, (no more frequently than once a year) publish the list of changes to the membership.

What would I keep?

That song in my head when I get up before daylight to head out to a shoot.
"Come Saturday morning, I'm going away with my friends,
We'll Saturday spend to the end of the day..."

I'd keep the State and Regional Matches, and how they are structured so the "Champs" have to be from that state or region.

AnnieLee, nope, I wasn't peeking, Cousin Slim! ;)

::)I agree with Annie Lee. to some extendt. I said on a passed post that I would like to see SASS become like the NRA and the NMLRA. It is time the Wild Bunch stepped down and turned it over to the members. I am sure they have already made back more than there investment.

Self edited because I started this topic to get ideas and other people's thoughts.

I am so new to SASS so can't say much. However, the hand book is nice 'cause you can carry it in a pocket. I would like though more info on scoring and some reason why such and such are such a way etc. Thx.

Interesting topic Cammy  ;D.

What I'd really like to see is the option for a less expensive membership and the Chronicle available on the SASS web site without a user id and password.

Well, I'll beat my dead horse for a second....

I would like to see full powered rifles (i.e. .32-40, .38-55, .40-60, .40-65, .40-82, .45-70, .45-75, etc.) allowed in the rifle stages again. Move the targets back further and that should tend to the concerns with splashbacks.
