Title: Pietta serial numbers and year of manufacture
Post by: Abilene on July 24, 2012, 05:38:22 PM
I was responding to Silent Joe's topic about finding year of manufacture of Italian guns by looking up the code stamped on the barrel or frame.  When I went to my bookmarked page of these codes on Bluebook's website, the page no longer existed.  I found out Bluebook had moved their website, and when I started from their new homepage and looked up the page with the Italian codes, it now contains serial numbers vs. year of manufacture for various Pietta guns from mid-1980's up through 1999.  If that info was online before or if this has been mentioned before, I missed it.

The Pietta data has been in the Blue Book of Modern BP Arms since the begining - or at least since the 3rd edition.  The Proofmark.pdf page still exists.  Here is the link: https://bluebookofgunvalues.com/Info/PDF/POWDER/MBPProofmarks.pdf  The Pietta page you link to is out of date.  The 7th edition page number is 291.

I see (said the blind man).  Well, I've never had occasion to use those codes myself and mostly kept those bookmarks so I could reference them when someone else asks the age of their gun, so I haven't looked at them that much.  So I probably saw that info before but those particular brain cells are no longer functional  :)
