Title: Dept. of the Missouri yahoogroup
Post by: Dr. Bob on April 05, 2006, 04:37:28 PM
Attention in the Barracks!

As instructed by Brv't. Col. Pitsptr, a yahoogroup for the Department of the Missouri has been creatd.  All GAF members of the Dep't. of the Missouri [Central Time Zone] are urged to join to facilitate communication within the Dep't.

Yahoogroups is free and is based on e-mail exchange.  Group member e-mail messages are sent to all members at one time.

To join, go to   yahoogroups.com   and follow the instructions to register.  All that is requierd is an e-mail address, a user name, and a password.  [The same info that you gave to register here at CAS City.]  Once you are registered, use the search feature to find Department of the Missouri group.  On the group home page there is a "button"  for Join this Group.  Click on it and follow the prompts.  Please include your GAF number.

The group allows creation of files and has a photo section.

You will have 3 options to get the messages that are posted to the group.
1.  individual messages sent to your e-mail address
2.  a single e-mail each day with all messages included
3.  no e-mail, must read messages in the group archives

All GAF members in the Department of the Missouri are welcome and we hope that you will join us.

a) If your internet service allows you to have multiple email accounts I'd suggest you establish a separate account for registering at Yahoo.

b) After registering it's better to search for "Grand Army of the Frontier",  for some reason Bob's suggestion of "Department of the Missouri" finds such things as Hot Latina Maid & other non-GAF interest groups  :o

RCJ,

The yahoogroup is part of Col. Pitsptr's effort to communicate within the Dep't.  I am sure that a lot of Dep't of the Missouri information will also be posted here.  The yahoogroup will be offered to all those who the Col. has an e-mail address for. [Soon!] and many of those may not be citizens of CAS City.  We may get more of theme here too, I hope.  If you put the yahoogoup e-mail address in your address book, sending a message to the Dep't. is a one step process.  For those who feel more comfortable here, that is alway your coice.

I tried to get on Yahoogroups with the net computer on my break.
It won't accept some of the sign in data.
I'll try it on my home computer tonight.
So far---This yahoo stuff ain't workin' fer me!

I'm sure the Yahoo group won't be THE answer for everyone. My hope is that it will give us another venue to catch some of the members to don't participate here on The Barracks. The biggest problem we have right now is that it seems as though the e-mail addresses that we have for many of our members are obsolete.

I got in. I like the idea of the yahoo group email as I don't always get to Cas City everyday, and the timliness of receiving email messages will ensure that any major messages get through.

Thanks for all the work in reorganizing/updating our department.
