How I expand the diameter of a cast bullet
« on: June 15, 2021, 04:06:00 PM »
I just uploaded a new video about how to expand the diameter of a cast bullet. This can be really handy for testing out an antique gun before ordering a custom mold. In the video I expand a .452" diameter 255gr bullet to .459". The process is the same for any bullet. All you really need is a sizing die that is the size you want the bullet expanded to.

Very informative. Thank you for showing us the proper way to enlarge a bullet. Beats my past failed inconsistent attempts.  :D

Thanks. Well I don't know if its the proper way, if there is such a thing. But it works for me. Maybe it will help someone else.

Very clever. Thanks for posting. Hadn’t thought of using sizers. I did something similar with a die and a plate to make heel base bullets out of 38 bullets. Kept the base small while expanding the top. Worked ok. I eventually bought a mould.

That is another option, and I have done it. I found it worked well to increase size by a couple thousandths. But much larger and they get more egg shaped and finning becomes a problem. That's just my experience.
