Title: KEEP YER NOSE IN THE WIND AND YOUR EYES ALONG THE SKYLINE
Post by: Jack Wagon on August 13, 2021, 01:57:20 PM
I came across this photo I took in the early 70's of my huntin' buddy Ski in the classic mountain pose. Ski is a long time gone now, but he always liked this picture. Taken in the Warner Mountains of northern California with Surprise Valley down below. The 1846 Lassen Applegate wagon road passed through here. With the flood of 49's and later miners headin' for the diggin's in Idaho, conflicts between the Paiute, Bannock, Modoc and Pit River Indians prompted the building of Fort Bidwell (1865-1893) in Surprise Valley.  Jw

Thank you for sharing JW,

This reminds me that we are not only celebrating the story of our heritage, we are very much part of that story as well. This image shows how much this place meant to him and how this place will forever hold some of his essence as well.
