I’m still waiting on my teeth.  Had 90% of them extracted, then when we tried to take impressions for the dentures my gag reflex proved I can’t tolerate uppers with the plate.  Plan B- get implants to anchor the uppers.  Went to a doctor to do the implants to discover I had mucus buildup in my left sinus.  Plan C- went to an ENT, and yes mucus buildup needs to be drained before implants.  Got an appointment with the ENT Nov. 1st to go over options.  After surgery and recovery time to drain my nose it’s back to the implant Dr.  Then after implants and recovery time it’s back to my dentist to get fit for the dentures.

All in all I figure it’s going to take a year to get teeth.  Oh well I can’t get the old ones put back now!  All I want is a steak right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At least the wife (CFO) says not to worry about the cost.

I'm kinda with Slim... :o  , just the though of what you're going through would give me the shivers .

I was about 3 hours in the chair under a local but walked out with a ( though temporary ) smile so to speak and a
a fat lip feeling even into my nose  ::) .... which was a weird feeling
This morning,  no pain after all was done and the Novocain has worn off .

Russ , I wish you a speedy completion to your work  :)

Today skies will be mostly clear. The low will be 58°.

33 and cloudy in Missoula this am.

I spent yesterday in the careful watch of a doctor in Ronan, MT for a CBP medical exam. Everything checked out fine, so I guess I’ll get a few more orbits on this blue ball of ours. Next step is a polygraph and interview board.

In other news, last night my dog and I helped city PD arrest someone. Our part was rather minuscule, as the bad guy was running on foot and hopped the irrigation ditch behind our apartment while we were down there. I offered to track him through the brush for them, and they accepted. We found him in a pile of boulders, and that was that.

Morning all.

Long day pumping down the Bitterroot valley today. Weather forecast for a high of 37 and showers here and there.

Major, that sounds like you’re in for a busy couple of days. That does sound fun though. There’s a big to-do down at Fort Missoula museum for Armistice Day, but I’ll be working that day, and likely won’t have time to attend. Which is quite a pity, since they’re going to have a living history exhibit of a WWI artillery unit with their original guns brought to the fort in 1910.

The wind has died down leaving the pine needles on the patio in three nice little piles.  The rest of the lawn is a disaster area.  Can’t decide to take the rake to it or the lawn mower and mulch it!

Looks like Saturday then Tuesday are our nest chance at moisture.  Need to keep up the precip. as several local ski areas opened early as a result of that good storm (I consider that a good storm because the snow stayed well above out 5000 ft level).

What ski area is it.  The wife was an avid skier and was curious which one it is.  She rattled off a whole list of those around Milwaukee and most of the rest of Wisconsin.  They didn't mean anything to me as I had had not met her at that time and had not "fallen down hill on pointy sticks at high speeds" at that time.

Looks like a shower has snuck past the Procrastinators.  It’s cloudy right now, but even with over 60% chance of rain, I wouldn’t take bets on it get anything wet.

TODAY
SAT 11/06
HIGH 52 °F
HIGH 53 °F 65% Precip. / 0.07 in
Overcast with rain showers at times. High 53F. Winds W at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 70%

High winds last week caused a bow in our fence, that I now have to straighten out.  Got 16’ of 2x4 and deck screws to reenforce the top plate of the fence.  Had to take down the tarp that covers the wood pile (as it’s anchored to that part of the fence).  This means that 70% chance of wet firewood  has probably turned to 110%.

Sue’s still going up to Mt. Rose and NorthStar (local ski areas) a couple times a year (except Covid did in last years plans).  She has torn her ACL twice now (ladder induced, not skiing), but still plans to go a couple times this season.  At 71 she’s got a couple of year to go to catch up to you.

No knee surgery today, her Covid test was positive, reschedule for Dec 13th.

I got to ride in the big red box truck last night about 7pm anyway.   O2 was 94, not bad but the BP was bouncing around in the 90s-70's in the over and low 50's to upper 30's in the lower.  and HR was around 140.   EMT's and ER people were a bit excited for a while when I told them I'd been eating fine and had drank a little over 2 liters over the day.  Got an IV in the ambulance, EKG on the porch where I waited, some sort of med in IV to raise BP a little.   Got to ER and they put the big EKG on me, the one with more wires, did a chest X Ray, aspirin and other stuff in IV, pumped a liter bag in fast, then took me to MRI and did a dye test.  Drew out half my blood in two draws, decided I had P-monya and sent me home about 1 am.  Got follow up with Amy on Thursday. ::)

She will be so glad I lost at least 20 pounds, was closer to 30 till this crap popped back up.   Took the kid to school this morning, will go pick up up in a bit.  We slept late this morning between all the Drs office calls.   Think supper will be help your

Longgggggggggggg Day I'm beat!

Opened with the Fox News doing a live weather cast at 6:30 AM and the Honor Guard raising the Flag
High School Band Played. then several more Live remotes from the Museum.
A School group of 135 student toured with our docents ... We served Hamberger's & Hot Dogs.
Probably 250 toured the museum, at 3:30 I left for the Lake Nona Veterans Day Bash from 5-9:PM with Traveling Museum display in the rain ::)
The rain cleared off shortly after arrival... Very cool arial display as 8 Military Sky Divers spiraled is with flaring sparklers.
I spoke with dozens of folks ...and wrapped up and packed up and grabbed a McDonalds fish samish & Ice tea....
Now BED ...off tomorrow   goody !

Opening the museum at 10 to 6 Today & tomorrow, I have two volunteers (docents) and at least one intern
(High School student earning credits) scheduled.
But this kid is no ball 'O' fire, seems totally disinterested, just there to mark time, no initiative and no conversationalist.
Some people's kids  ::)

We did have some guy in on Veteran's Day that was trying to be confrontational, seems he was attempting to start a disruption
over the American Civil War (Confederate uniforms) and the WWII exhibit (German) after he had made is tour through the halls.
I was quite busy, with a school group in another area and did not see him or the altercation.
Hopefully, he does not return and cause an issue or scene.  again "some people's children "  ::)

Stay warm, and enjoy your day

Greetings all.

Been a whirlwind of a week in Missoula. White stuff, rain, violence, all sorts of fun.

Today’s specific excitement has been the acquisition of not one, but two new trucks. I got a 1995 GMC K2500. It has 105k miles, but it’s a good 3/4 ton truck that will tow our trailer. Mrs TK got a 2001 GMC K1500 with 76k miles.

46°  headed to 71° and clear

We seem to have a PTSD effected Veteran from the war on Iraq.
He served as a Marine.
He first came into the Museum about a month ago, with a girlfriend and I gave them comp'd  tour.
After the tour, he hung around , and it was obvious he was effected , he spoke of his service and some memories.
He showed me pictures of his service in Bagdad....

He has now returned several times , the girl he said is "gone" gesturing with his floating hand " Gone like the wind "  ???
He makes us kinda nervous  :-X  We are not sure he is stable ....

I hope he is getting help .... he seems to have a job , working construction he said , but has no transpiration.

Evening all.

Productive day today. Bought some furniture for the house finally. It’s Chinamart plastic fantastic, but we have a kitchen table and a futon to sit on, so the Mrs is happy.

In other gun-related news, I sold my Ruger Max9, and bought a 1911 today. It’s a Turkish copy of an Officer ACP in 9mm. I know it isn’t in The Lord’s Caliber, but John Mosses Browning saw fit to chamber the Hi-Power for 9mm, so I at least can sleep easy knowing JMB is not totally against the cartridge. That’s also the caliber I have on hand. I pick up the gun in two weeks once it arrives at the store.

Sadly the lousy misty rain kept the attendance low .
Maybe today will be better.

The daughter of a Late retired Col. of USMC Pilot, donated his Flight Overalls & Flight Jackets, he flew the A-6 Intruder.
Included was his flight Helmet and a radio headset, also included was really detailed Grumman A-6 Intruder desk model with Col. Woods air wing markings.
I will complete logging in the donation today.
The late Col. Woods flew combat during the Gulf War, may he rest at peace.

I have my Beretta 92 in 9mm, and my dad has a S&W Shield 9mm.  I like the caliber. It’s also very available out here, especially with HSM being right here.
I’ll probably put some Wilson Combat parts in my new gun, specifically extractor and recoil spring. This one already comes with good sights, so I’m happy there.

Just read this:
"I understand the powers-that-be in cowboy shooting have adopted a power factor (bullet weight times muzzle velocity divided by 1,000) of “60” as mininum. To put this in perspective a 200 gr. .44-40 bullet would only have to travel 300 fps to make “power.” The cowboys of old (and even those living today in the real world) would not be caught shooting a big bore sixgun with a powder-puff load like that — it’s embarrassing."

If I was a cook in a busy steak house I'd chase you out with a meat cleaver if you asked for this and I'd give the waitress a butcher knife if you added eggs over hard unbroken. ::) ;D

The Malliard reactions convert the simple sugars and amino acids to flavor, but had to be done with out drying the meat out making it tough, as the beef fat renders out it need replaced with fat to lubricate the meat fibers, butter is much better flavored than beef fat any way, that's why we use it on fresh bread and not beef fat. :P

We live in a strange world where people like to under cook their steak and over cook their bacon.    ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

Happy T-day, enjoy your festivities with Family, Friends and Food, include Parades & Football if that is to your liking.  :)

U-See-Um is closed today, but I'll cover the weekend & 1st.  3 days next week, my co-curator is traveling to Family.
We are setting up for a special Pearl Harbour exhibit running on the 7th, with many artifacts recently acquired (2021) and not yet on display.

Happy Thanksgiving All!

Remember, we all have more to be thankful for than we think.
I, for one, am thankful for all the friends and fellow CAS shooters I've interacted with here in CAS City.

DeaconKC, I remember my girls having sleepovers when they were small. Talk about an all-night giggle fest!

Made it through the Early dinner on Sat.  Made it to Oreegone!  Just had our Traditional Toast to those who can no longer attend our feast (a dram of Grande Mariner all around).

About ready to carve the bird.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to everyone!

Now my hunt and peck with fat thumbs on my cell phone is giving out!  Enjoy everyone!!!

Woke up this morning with a coating of the evil white stuff on the ground and still coming down. I blame the people that put up their Christmas decorations before December. >:(

Off today, But at the Museum tomorrow thru Thursday,

Working on expanding the Spanish American War exhibit ...Still some light of my vision, just got a6' glass case

I'm adding a Spanish Soldier's straw hat (wardrobe from Rough Riders), and a campaign hat (Mine)
I have two original Infantry Hat pins.

I going to temporally place my Krag in the case and a blue campaign shirt.

I still need items, if you have something to spare or donate.

We are also, setting a Temporary dedicated December 7th Pearl Harbour display, for big reembrace event we are hosting.
(Those items will return to the WWII wing later in the Month)

Hit 66 here today, got the last of the yard chores done for the year [I hope]. Doing the final few boxes sorting in the garage and found a bunch of my metal signs and old license plates from our former place, so that was good, thought I had lost em. Major could you use a WW1 long bayonet from a 1903 as a display piece? It will go on a rifle, but some joker filled up the inside so it wont catch.

Sure could  :)

I have two Spanish 1893 Bayonets, One I bought for my M1916 Spanish Mauser, then found a better one w/ a scabbard.
I've sense sold the M1916, and kept both, but I'll use one of the Bayonets in the SpanAm Display.
Your 03 could go in the WW1 or even early WW2 Displays.

The Mosin Nagant bayonet I bought from you, is already with a Mosin in the Korea Exhibit.  :)

Made it back form Oreegone in one piece (though a slightly larger piece)!  Didn’t get in until 1:00 AM and even with only a 15 min trip home, didn’t get to bed ‘til after 3:00.

After a late rising time, got the outdoor Christmas lights up! Then an early bedtime.

TODAY
TUE 11/30
CURRENT HIGH 57°F
HIGH 58°F 1% Precip. / 0.00 in
Mostly sunny. High 58F. Winds light and variable.

We’ve now gone from overcast and rain and a 15° temp change overnight back to clear skies with a 30° temp change from day to bight.

Think I like our weather better here.

Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving.  Now we’ve just got to get Susan sorted out, packed up and ready for her trip to Wisconsin on the 9th.
