Ammo??
« on: January 10, 2010, 08:04:43 PM »
So in the mean time till I get my reloading stuff. What brands of ammo/ vendor(45LC&Shotgun) should I buy? How much do I need for a match? I have brass that can be reloaded anyone out there does it commercially?
I was thinking of using brass shotgun shells cause they look cool ;D What brand and what do I need to reload these?

Deadeye has good leads there!
TenX is proably the closest of those to you, of those three.  I recollect they are in Northern CA somewheres.
I would recommend (unless you have NO free time) getting a metallic reloading set up, as soon as you have spare empty brass.

As far as shotgun brass shells, most Pards here use Magtech.

If you use a double barrel shotgun I'd suggest Remington Shotgun Shells. They a slick and drop out easier than any other shell I've tried. I normally buy the Heavy Dove Load by the case.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

"What works for one won't necessarily work for another."

Like Shotgun Franklin, I use double barreled guns (Stoeger and TTN).  In my case the Remington ammo I purchased didn't work reliably in either gun.  Hard primers I was told by a couple of gunsmiths.  I've had other brands of shells not work well in my guns that I have seen work very nicely in others.

Currently I am using Winchester with a brass (not silver) base.

In a nutshell what you need to do is try different brands and see what works best in YOUR gun.
