Federal American Eagle 38 Special Ammo Round Nose
« on: August 10, 2022, 10:00:56 PM »
Hello!

Just bought a Winchester 38/357 and I wanted to know if I can use Federal American Eagle 38 Special Ammo 158 Grain Lead Round Nose?
I read to use flat nose.

Thank you.

Can you?  Yes.  Should you?  No.  Magazine detonations, while not commonplace, can and do happen.  Round nose ammo has been the cause of some of them.  Nose hits primer of round ahead of it.  It's not usually the recoil with these guns, it is more likely from the column of ammo slamming into each other from the recoil spring every time the rifle is levered.
