Pictures of the Power Points (I think that's what they are; they were secondhand and labeled PPSP which I think means Power Point Soft Point, as that's what they look like to me).

CAS City Classifieds / Selling various .348 and .375 bullets
« Last post by Hair Trigger Jim on April 30, 2024, 10:29:40 PM »
I have the following bullets for sale:

.348 Hornady Interlock 200 grain flat point bullets: partial box of 29 bullets for $20.

.375 Sierra GameKing 250 grain spitzer boattail: open but full box of 50 for $35.

.375 caliber 270 grain bullets that I believe are Winchester Power Point: I have a total of 246 of these. 60 cents each or $145 for all.

Shipping is a flat $10, and I will combine shipping with my other listings.

Free shipping if you buy all of the .375 bullets, or even just all of the Power Points!

I prefer payment by PayPal or Zelle, GunTab (I will cover all fees including for credit card), money order or cashier's check, or personal check from a forum regular.

Items may be listed elsewhere and are subject to prior sale.

Slim, you don't have to tell me about grass growing, I mowed my lawn for the 3rd time this year today,The ground is finally drying up so I can do the entire lawn and about a hour after I finished it started pouring here. I'm glad I didn't put it off until tomorrow . Oh, I replaced my old riding mower with a new one, Just too old and out of shape for a  push mower anymore.

I went through some of my old paper references. The .38 Long was introduced in 1875. It was avalable as both a heeled bullet with a 0.879 case (130 gr bullet 15 gr BP 770 fps) and as an internally lubed bullet with a 1.017" case (150 gr bullet 18 grain BP 770 fps) both with the same overall length (1.324").

The 1878 UMC catalog lists the 38 Short adapted to Colt's B.L. Police Revolver and the 38 Long adapted to Colt's Navy Revolver.  Both are heeled, C.F. cartridges.  The 38 short had a 0.765" case.

My guess is that only Colt produced the internally lubed bullet and UMC produced the heeled bullet, hence the differentiation between the .38 Long and .38 Long (Colt's).  This would fit in with Colt and the .41 cartridge used in the Thunderer.  It was rifled for the heeled cartridge, but Colt stopped production of the heeled cartridge and only produced the internally lubed version for it.

Neat fact, kinda, Schofield is buried here in my town in the city cemetery after he, uh, died. Actually read that in Wild West Magazine many years ago.
