1876 MERWIN HULBERT OPEN TOP BARREL WEDGE

(1/1)

Dirty Doc:
:-\PLEASE HELP!!! I am looking at an 1876 Merwin Hulbert with a barrel wedge/pin which appears to be boogered. Otherwise, it looks fine. I dropped the cylinder of my current one and the ring broke off; been at gunsmith's over 2 years. How hard would it be to find a replacement wedge OR mage one using a Uberti B.P. wedge and a new set of files????  ANY HELP APPRECIATED...Mark "Dirty Doc" Zachary...

Story:
Considering the relative inexpensive-ness of a reproduction wedge, why not just be a pioneer and acquire one, then hand-fit it to your Merwin?

That you already own one might make you the best author of your own answer(s).

Professor Marvel:
My Good Doc

replacement parts for M&H are literally nonexistant.

as Story has pointed out the only options are to cannabalize a broken M&H or manufacture one from scratch...

good luck

St. George:
Spares for Merwin, Hulberts dried up decades ago, and what parts remain are in the hands of other folks' revolvers - and they're pretty proud of them, as they're priced as being made of unobtanium.

You're on your own - though 'you' can make one, if you and your machinist friend are dedicted to  the task at hand.

Scouts Out!
