"One spoonful of tea leaves for each drinker and one for the pot. Scald the water but let it steep, else it's too hot."

Now you know.

Haven't yet had my cup of morning coffee (Salted Caramel), so the weather can go suck an egg. Speaking of breakfast . . .

Had co-worker, every year he when home to Peru at X-Mas , and bring me a large bag of Peruvian....
Rich & decadent,  loved the stuff.
That company let him go, and he lost his work visa and returned home,  1 year he sent me a pound , last I ever heard from him.

Good it upsets the dog.  ;D  Had to google K-Pop, got Pandora on Americana Music, never heard the term till a few months ago, been listening it to it for 50 years. ;)

Americana is contemporary music that incorporates elements of various American roots music styles, including country, roots-rock, folk, bluegrass, R&B and blues, resulting in a distinctive roots-oriented sound that lives in a world apart from the pure forms of the genres upon which it may draw.

It suits both of us so it is pretty much what is played here.

Rita heard DAC say talking with a fish instead of fist, told here that was a bathroom on the right moment, yes CCR is included in the genre.  ;D

I did not know K-pop was thing , I had to Google it myself  ::)

I haven't like any youth music genre , since  "rap"  ( lower case intended ) became a thing ....

I suppose I fall into " Americana " or perhaps somewhere between Doo-Wop and the 60's , with a touch of 70's

My sister is into that k-pop junk. Not I.

My taste is mostly 1930s-1980s western and “country.” Lots of Marty Robbins, Roy Rogers, and The Highwaymen.  I like what they call “classic rock” as well.

My brother is into the Metal stuff.

Not all of it are American singers either listened to a Robert Plant and Allison Krause duet tonight and Mark Knofler and Emmy Lou Harris just got over.

Long story but thanks to FB I am in contact with a distant cuzzin who is going to write a book on our Great Great Grandfather Ishumael Hickey, among other things he was in the circus for a while with his wife, was said he could bend horseshoes.  Been doing some digging for him, know exactly where the farm was and the building site, got a name of the owners, brother knows them and fishes in a pond of theirs.  Want to go look around in the spring.

I had best look into these...  Robert Plant &  Mark Knofler  and these duets are re-inventing their own genre.
I have just listened to some offerings...I like;;;

I like Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven and anything Dire Straits !

Sultans Of Swing is rock pure gold , Knofler is the finest guitarist in my world , then give a listen to Gabriella Quevedo
play the cover of Sultans of Swing.

I remember going Rock & Roll concerts in the 50's while in High School. We wore our one button suits with Mister "B" collar shirts and Blue Suede shoes. We saw Little Richard, Fats Domino and Ray Charles. My all time favorite was Bo Diddley.

Stairway and Freebird were good songs, could care less if I ever hear them again, could go out in the pickup and drive to Sargent or similar and would likely hear both before I got there.    ::)

The 5 Certified Guitar Players were the 5 best finger style guitar players, whose skill and talent were above all of the others, according to the King of Finger Style Guitar, Chet Atkins. The list is:

Tommy Emmanuel
Jerry Reed
John Knowles
Mark Knopfler

Chets band lead, Paul Yandell, was added to the list by his daughter just after his death.

Roy Clark and Glen Campbell were both considered, but Chet felt that they could develop their finger style skills farther.  Willie Nelson could have made the short list, but he didn’t care.

I play finger style mostly, though I sound more like the proverbial Joyful Noise than good music. ::)

I don't know what finger style means exactly ... only musical instrument I play with any success is a radio

But I know what I like on that radio , and I liked Glen & Roy

Jerry Reed , Knopfler, Clapton , Beck & Hendrix would be my 5  and all different styles

In a nutshell, it’s playing 3 different parts of a song simultaneously with one instrument.

Its not uncommon, for a cover song to be more popular than the original credited artist
Joy to the World... by Hoyt Axton became one of Three Dog Night's Greatest Hits

One the comes to mind is "Twist and Shout" written by  Bert Russell and Phil Medley
recorded by the  Top Notes...
but it was the cover by the Isley Brothers  and a bit later the Beatles that took it to number # 1

I am trying to load for my Colt Police Positive. I have .358" SWC tumble-lube bullets I use for .38 Spl. I tried some and they are trying to key-hole. I found the following and wondering what you think.

"You can ‘bump up’ 0.358 inch diameter .38 S&W Special cast bullets to 0.363 inch diameter for .38 S&W by squeezing them – nose to base – in a flat faced vise. About a quarter turn in my vise works nicely. You are left with a flat nose bullet, but 0.363 inch bullets are hard to find these days. Accuracy is significantly improved in many guns by this diameter increase."

I bought it, but haven't cast any yet. It looks very much like the original bullets loaded in .38 S&W, 146gr and a short base section, allowing for the most available powder space in the short .38S&W case. Not a problem for smokeless, but my pistol is a BP S&W DA.

I had a letter to mail out to a friend that seemed a bit heavy for one stamp. Too cheap to buy a postage scale and I didn't want to wait in line at the Post Office so I used my RCBS Rangemaster.  One ounce is 437.5 grains. Good thing I weighed it as this letter weighed 455.4 grains. The older I get the more lazy I get

I thought an ounce was 473gr? But Google says different. Maybe that's why I don't get as many shots out of a pound of powder as I thought I should...

In the  avoirdupois system, in the troy system there are only 5760 grains per pound, meaning that a pound of feathers really does weigh more than a pound of gold. The pound of gold weighs only 12 ounces but the troy system ounce weighs 480 grain so the ounce is heaver which means an ounce of feathers weighs less than an ounce of gold but weighs more than a pound of gold.  The grain remains constant it bothe systems  ::)

Always used cedar trees when I was a kid. I'd be fine with one now(if we even set one up), but everyone else in the family thinks they... stink. ??? To me, that's what Christmas is supposed to smell like! Even after my folks eventually got a fake tree, they'd cut some cedar branches to bring in, so it'd smell like Christmas.

When I was kid it was real trees with wonderful odors  ,  Fraser Fir,  Scotch Pine or Blue Spruce  whatever was imported from up north.
Christmas trees don't grow here and personally Coconut palms don't look or smell Christmassy.

One year about 2011 , I had a wild idea , and bought a live 5' Juniper in a large wash tub size planter ( they do grow here )
The idea was after Christmas to plant it ....
Well, the cat decided , " hey cool , an inside tree will attached litter box , how convenient ,  I can play in the tree and then CRAP in the box ! "

Fake tree for then on !

Morning all.
25 degrees looking for mid forties.

French vanilla coffee, if you're so inclined.

We went with an artificial tree five years ago. One of those that came in a box pre-strung with lights. Just pop it out of the box and assemble.
The laws of physics somehow defied when it would never go back into that same box come time to put away. Ended up having to cinch it with a piece of rope to hold the box together. Even then it always seemed it was in imminent danger of exploding out of the confines of the box. Plus it started to show wear and tear with age, shedding.
This year we finally got rid of it and got a cute little three footer, pre-lit. Can't put as many of the family ornaments on it but that's OK, seeing as the girls have confiscated many in past years to seed their family Christmas trees.

No indication of problems, went out and was cutting saplings in the yard, came in, didn't feel good, sat on the couch, wife brought him a glass of water, said he felt better and dropped over dead, EMT's were there in minutes, went to one of the best hospitals for heart and nothing.

17 of us cousins, 4 gone now, 3 dropped over dead of a heart attack and I got away with problems I ignored for at least 3 years and they had no signs.

Around a mile from our Condo is a golf course with a pond near the road. This young fella was sunning himself today on the bank. I believe he lives in this pond. Don't think I'd want to retrieve any balls from this pond. I'm guessing he's around an eight footer.

21 with light snow and winds up to 37 mph, WC +2, some almost whiteouts, of course had to go to store day.   My first outing since last Thursday, next planned one is on the 2nd for cousins Memorial service, seems everyone in the family wants to die and have cold services out on open hills, some of us were talking about that at Uncle Wilmar's out on the bare hill.   I slipped on the ice that day getti ng out of the pickup and almost fell into a barb wire fence. ::)

I recall as a kid there was roadside attraction that sold baby "Gators" as pets, I had one.
He had a terrarium bowl to live in and was fed chicken scraps and other meaty items.
He got to big about 16" and was moved to outside chicken wire pin with a plastic tub pool , from which he escaped to a fate unknown.
The 1950's were different time  :P Alligator bags , belts shoes/boots, and wallets were all the rage.
Alligators went on the endangered lists for a time , It was illegal to hunt or even kill one unless in self defense  . The species responded and came roaring back.
The State then would issue hunting permits to special/dedicated Gator hunters.
Today, Fried Gator tail is served in restaurants, taste like chicken  ;)   and one can again buy Alligator products

That roadside attraction ?  "Gatorland " which still exist today in the same location in Kissimmee , Florida

I’ll pass the sentiments to my sister in Iowa. ::)

Consider the coals stirred, and coffee brewed for the night owls.

Weather here is chilly: currently 15, with breezes on and off. Some of the white stuff may find its way to this part of the state.

In work world, I have a new route tomorrow. I have to go up an icy canyon I’ve never been to. So if I don’t return, just know I probably got eaten by a bear.

Y’all keep warm.

Once a bear has noticed you and is paying attention to you, additional strategies can help prevent the situation from escalating.

1) Identify yourself by talking calmly so the bear knows you are a human and not a prey animal.
......
6) Continue to talk to the bear in low tones; this will help you stay calmer, and it won't be threatening to the bear.

Celebrating our 44th anniversary today. Time does fly.
I remember our wedding was on the coldest day of the year. People who came to the reception stayed longer than we'd anticipated. After all the adult beverages were consumed we broke out the hot coffee. Just as many takers.

24 degrees here, looking for a high of 28. 8" of snow cleared off now, so shouldn't be any closings.

When I was just a young’un (in my thirty’s) a friend of mine and I went backpacking in Northern Wisconsin on the border with the UP of Michigan.  Had a bear loping down the road in front of us, but no chance for a conversation.  However, the next morning showed we were camped right next to a large beaver pond.  Had a chance for a nice long conversation with one of the damn (I meant dam) engineers, but it was rather one sided.

Went to the store with Rita to get stuff she forgot yesterday. ::)  Lexie went to a friends so I went along as the helper,  not sure who helps who but got home, got them carried in and put away, planning on in till Sat.

I did it, I am officially old and worn out, got an appointment with the GP Dr on Tuesday to apply for a handicap permit. ::)  Use Rita's when she's with me but refuse to use it when not, like anyone would check it that close, just won't except at the hospital and still have to walk about a block at that, they told me to since Valet is shut down.   Been not going to do it but like people tell me I don't have to use it if I want to walk, but with ice and real cold weather it might be a good idea, that stuff around 0 just about kills me now even with the sild bandanna.

John ain't been around to shovel, can't get ahold of him, Lexie is a wuss like her mom and dad, will work on it but she does so much inside I hate to push it.  I hope John is OK but worried, thought about doing it while Rita was at therapy today and decided that was stupid, if I had a heart attack and died people would never let me forget it. ::)
