Title: GAF Scout Company Guidon Green?
Post by: Luke MacGillie on March 03, 2006, 02:09:29 PM
In checking out the GAF website I saw the image of the Scout guidon, its Green.  Shouldn't it be Red in following the traditions of the period, and not the modern day Special Ops regs?

As an aside Most of the guidons that I stood behind were green throughout my military carreer, some with crossed arrows, others with a Trojan Horse, and then there was one that one that was blue with crossed rifles in a cav sqdn early on :-)

Perhaps, but early on in the organization of the GAF the Scout Commander came up with a green flag and so it became.  Given that official WHITE scout units, outside of Forsyth, didn't actually exist, the color of the guidon is actually kind of moot.

The Corps of Marines flag is red, but it really should be blue based on the Corps' colors in the 19th century.

In the interest of morale, I see no reason to change the guidon color unless the Scouts decide to.

I recall lobbying for the traditional Red but to no avail.

I to have served behind the green guideon with crossed arrows.

I was just a support pogue down SOTB prior to going the trojan horse route.

Im half tempted to get one made up in red next time im in Braggistan.

Wow how times change, I just typed braggistan, I guess there has been a changing of the guard so to speak, no more fayettenam
