32-40 brass

Just acquired a nice Winchester 1894 saddle carbine in 32-40. Does anyone have any brass they would like to sell?

If you can't find 32-40 you can make it out of 30-30 or better yet 32 special if you can find that. Starline is taking backorders for 32 special so at least that will be available at some point in the near future. I wish Starline would make 32-40.

.30-30 brass is ubiquitous. One pass with a 32-40 die and Robert's yer fathers brother. It may be a touch shorter than specs but I can tell you it makes no matter. You have to sort and weigh brass as they are all over the block. Weight goes with capacity, which does matter. Sorting by headstamp doesn't work as no one really follows specs, or spec are very wide.

This is what I have done, also.

True, 30-30 is likely easier to find used but the only reason I mentioned 32 special is that is is even easier to form if you can find it or if you are buying new brass buy it instead of 30-30. Neck is already correct all you are doing is squeezing the body to more of a taper and less neck. 32-40 and 32 special are extremely close already.

I made my 32-40 cases from resizing 38-55 cases, the advantage being they were the correct length and easy to form in the resizing die.
