The tactical ad I made fun of decided to send me all this spam, I'll make my own damned soap before I'll buy from such irritating SOBs.  Just say no to spam, should send them an E-Mail saying such, they won't care though, SOBs never do. ::)

Greetings all. I knew I’d find this place eventually. ::)

Hot and humid on the dark continent today. Just finished breakfast, which was a typical military chow cuisine of the most bland, stale and flavorless foods available. But that’s normal. If your watermelon doesn’t drop off your chin or cause any sort of stickiness, you might be in the military  :o

Lots of fires going on stateside it looks like. One is up around Flthead lake, not far from the Mrs. the Salmon Fire in Idaho is about the same distance the other direction. Then there’s another in the Klamath NF about 100 miles from my old stomping grounds.

Hot and humid per usual here.

I got an email last night saying a package I ordered I March finally shipped. I’d forgotten about it, so the email was a bit of a surprise. I got a used Lee Loader for 38spl for $12. They didn’t charge my card until shipment though, so I guess I can’t complain all that much.

Weather about normal here.  HOT AND HOTTER. Mixed with humidity and occasional thunder storms to help maintain the humidity levels. So that’s typical Monday weather.

Hope you all are doing as well as you can. Will check in next month

I'm here, had to get up and get blood draw, went to Wally and got the things I needed from there, found a  pair of old man black tennis shoes with Velcro for about $20, can't see paying more for them, it's not like I'm going to run the Boston Marathon in them or even run.  Made it this far today, with out pain and muscle relaxers, just this far, Got to go to Costco later but need a fill up on my antibiotics bag at 3:45.

Wife was hungry and we stopped down town to Ala Babba and got those Greek Gyro things, I waited in the car and the guy knows us and asked how I was.  Rita stopped there last hospital visit and he asked why just one, she told him so today he asked about me.  Don't go there more than 5-6 times a year but he asks if it's the usual.

another display

We have a 1942 Wehrmacht Truppenfahrrad  "Troop Bicycle" in the Museum
The German Army had numerous units equipped with bicycles.
I dressed it out yesterday.

The M42 Truppenfahrrad was a military bicycle issued to the Wehrmacht during World War II. Special equipment for Wehrmacht use was the steering bar, the saddle, the toolbox and the porter at the back. The headlamp had to work with dynamo and/or battery. On the steering bar were two holders mounted which were holding the half-shelter tent or drivers trench coat or a blanket.

2 1/2 hours yesterday, I go in early and I usually get out early and the lady gets to go home maybe closer to time, one doing what should be 2, know an infusion trained nurse wants a job in Lincoln? ::)  She got 3 more patients yesterday and hers can't wait.  Anyway the device wouldn't boot up right after bag and battery change and she tried several times.  Called company Hot line after a 1/2 hour got someone who could help, code 31 can not be fixed by phone, get another serviced pump and program.  Very nice people there at that office, the nurse said if there was trouble call, she'd likely be there till 9.  Quitting time is 5, at least Friday I helped get her out by 5.

Bet that pays a lot better than some of those BS degrees people get and can't pay off the loan, certainly takes less time and money to learn.

I'm not in the habit of recommending products but here goes......

For many years I've resisted joining COSTCO for personal reasons. Last month we were in Minnesota visiting my daughter. One day she grilled some Ribeye steaks from COSTCO for us. They were great. When we got back to Florida, I relented and joined COSTCO. Yesterday I grilled a Ribeye steak from COSCO. I can't eat a big steak anymore, so my wife and I split it. It was seasoned with just Salt & Pepper. It was excellent. Probably one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. We also now have enough Toothpaste and Mouthwash to last us for the next few years?

On another note, I've always had trouble cleaning the inside of my car's windshield. I bought a gadget for Amazon for around fifteen bucks. It works like a charm and my windshield has never been cleaner.

I found out one of my long time FB friends was murdered Saturday, beat brutally to death by his tweaker son.  Dean was one of the originals in our coffee chat groups kinda modeled after us.  Besides being a very nice person his home was in Kotzebue, Alaska although he did a lot of traveling as a representative of his tribe.  Inuit or as we often call them have different tribes.  He posted pictures of life up there both from his picture and friends.  Northern lights, Polar bears and big grizzlies, one lay dead across a 4 wheeler that it was trying to tear apart interrupting the friends breakfast, figuring the bear was hungry the owner of the 4 wheeler fed in a 220 grain Remington core lock.  We saw pictures of villagers from several villages with their curved ulu knives cutting up a legal bow fin whale havested by men in an open boat covered with walrus skin and using a hand thrown harpoon.

Dean always told us we could share his pictures so I'm going to down load the ones I like from a friend I never met in person.

Our trusty TrailBlazer was looking kind of like your "before" pic- Wife hit a deer earlier this summer, but ours was still somewhat drivable. Still had full coverage, ins co called it totaled, gave us about 1900 and we kept the car. I got all the parts from Ebay, got the headlights and bug deflector on, still haven't had time to paint the fender and bumper cover. Small dent in the front edge of the hood, but the new bug deflector hides it nicely.

Good morning folks. We got home last night from our visit trip, got the truck unloaded, us unpacked and then just crashed. 1400 miles all told, but well worth it, as getting to see the newest g'niece [boy, she's a tiny thing!], tons of lovin' from her two older sisters, and then went to see my Aunts in the St Louis area. One is on Hospice now, so it was probably the last time to see her in person. Nice visits, good weather, overall, as nice a trip as you could have.

Yes,I found another Magnum with the same color and used that to fix mine.I paid $2000 for the donor car, If I had bought the parts new and had them painted it would have cost twice that.Plus the donor car had other parts I can use. Once I'm done stripping it for parts it will go to the salvage yard.

Claimed he had Covid, could not talk in the phone due to sever sore throat.
Claimed, Doc. said " he could not go out for some reason"   ::)

Scammer wanted me to buy an American Express Gift card, for his nephew's B' day ,

no amount requested just " to buy a card "and he would me pay back.... ::)

yeah right!

it came from his email but also linked to the scammers G-mail account, had I responded.

point being his email is hacked...and is sending to his contacts, another mutual friend got it as well.

Good evening folks, rough day yesterday. Tripped going to my Doctor, hit my head on a brick cornerstone, got into the Doctor's office covered in blood, bleeding like a pig. Wound having to get a dozen stitches in my scalp. Definitely could have done without that. No concussion thankfully and being spoiled by the Missus. Think I will grab some coffee.

Well, Deacon, I guess it you're gonna have an accident like that, having it while you're already going to your doctor is...ummm... "convenient". Glad you're all stitched back together and doing better.

Greetings from Africa.

Weather has cooled down a few degrees this week. Down from highs in the 110-115 range into the high 90s. I’ll take it.

The new unit replacing ours has arrived. Now it’s just a matter of getting them up to speed and getting out of here.

As far as other excitement goes, I spent all morning in the wing of a plane changing a pair of O ring gaskets. In any other connection in that part of the wing it would have been 10-20 minutes, but of course it had to be the most difficult one and took 5 hours. And I got soaked in JP-8, so that was fun.

Glad to hear everyone is still on the plucking side of the daisy circle.

Sad for your topple KC, glad your mending :) .... also, Glad you are rebounding too Del.
and good to see your headed back Stateside Kid, welcome home.

Headed to the museum shortly, been slow at the gate lately just trickle attendance since school re-opened.
Vacations are over, I suppose the next surge will be the snowbirds.

An 82-year-old gent messaged me, with his collection to sell, an Enfield musket, Cavalry saber,
a d-handle sword and BP rifle of some sort.
I'll see if he can forward photos, my assumption is they are CW era replicas :-\

That's the news at this juncture.  Coffee's on

Decon, I hope you are doing ok.  Trying to do some cleaning around here wife is off with craft friends and GD in hiding in her room with friend/friends, not sure how many have showed up, she turns 18 on Thursday.  I'm thinking of getting me a mechanics stool on wheels to use cleaning, I can now breath bent over but the back won't take it at all, not really sure if the antibiotics are doing there job, got MRI scheduled the 12th but it could be done earlier if need be.

Greetings all.

Another hot and muggy one in Africa. 98, heat index of 115. A bit toasty for my taste.

Had a big inspection today. Customs and someone else from a long acronym agency that I couldn’t spell even if I wanted to. They gave the white glove treatment to all of our greasy equipment that has sat out in the dust storms for the past 4 months. Took a lot of cleaning. I got to be the team lead on a couple of pallets, despite being the most junior ranking member of the team. I think I did okay at it.

Howdy all, been gimping around here the last couple days as the Missus takes care of me and keeps me on a short leash. Much better today, actually got out and ran a couple of errands. Got some iced coffee and gonna watch the Cardinals game in a bit. TK, you take care out there.

Last weekend of the summer is creeping up.  That means here in Reno/Sparks it’s the smell of BBQ ribs and later the influx of alkali dust!

The Burners are packing up and heading out to the Black Rock Playa for a week of Burning Man.  They’ll be back around the 1st with vehicles a common shade of light grey from the desert dust.  That means bottled water is rare to be found, and next weekend you won’t be able to get near a car wash.

The more sane people will be found in Victorian Square in Downtown Sparks this weekend.  Sampling BBQ ribs from over 20+ rib cookers and other food vendors.  Plenty of ribs, beer, grilled corn, crafts, and other pleasures are all to be had in a more civilized atmosphere.

I’m opting for the latter as it has facilities and is free.  The former costs over $500/person to get to cook in the sweltering desert with no shade and nice alkali dust storms.

Let ya know how it goes next week when all settles down.

Hoping for your recovery KC

Had my 20oz cup of Death Wish coffee so I'm up and about. Going to be 110 in the Phoenix metro area today.  Can't say I'm gonna miss August at all.  Been too hot to go shooting. First few days of Sept are going to be 105+. Come on late September and then October!

Up, hanging on, had things go south yesterday at the Infectious Disease office.  First some lady came in late on a busy day and Myrna had to take her also, sat there with what I guess was a sister and mother, crying and saying she hated having a picc line and how they need to get her cured because she's had to put up with it for a week.  yeah, what ever twit, was about 30 I'd guress, she had just a line they were using, I had a line 3 weeks and looking at 3 more and a 10 or so pound pump I carry.  The whole thing reminded me of a spoiled brat.

Any way Monday is blood draw day to check on among other things if this new med it wrecking my kidneys, 4 tubes.  Cool, no stick, I have a hole they can already use.  Yep, no blood would come out so had to put an anticoagulant in it and wait 45 minutes.  Got it,

A friend in my FB coffee group sent this today, someone dug it out of Deans pictures and asked me to post it as the group picture for a while.   Same lady that gave me the beautiful red cedar frame  that I put the picture of Rowdy walking into the sun set.  I put the card with the picture in my coffee draw so I will see it often.

Del, hang in there, you're gonna whip this thing. Praying for you and the Missus as she takes care of you. Thanks for the well wishes and prayers, I'm doing pretty good, thankfully the gash was more messy than deep. Kinda Y shaped, about 6" long all together, could have been a LOT worse. Get the stitches out next week, Sunday would be the 10 days, but, it's Sunday, then Labor Day, so I got em til Tuesday. Then a Colonoscopy on Wednesday! Sheesh, gettin' old ain't for sissies! Anuhoo, y'all be good and Russ T, enjoy that BBQ!

I've had the scope in both ends this year, prefer the throat on, the prep is easy, nothing but clear liquids after midnight and black coffee is OK, just have to stope at 2 hours before.

Monday will be 4 weeks, it will be decided then if it goes another 2 weeks or stops.  Then another MRI with contrast to see what's up.

Headed into the museum shortly, continued light attendance compared to June & July.
I expect it will pick up after Labor Day.

Ill stop and get my coffee at WaWa's, I'm fond of a Hazelnut & Colombian 50/50 mix...

I do see Pumpkin spice starting to creep back into any and everything. ::)
