Title: Spencers in Baltimore
Post by: DJ on March 21, 2024, 02:48:51 PM
Just back from the Baltimore Show.  Somewhat smaller this year, but packed with interesting arms--kind of like a museum, but have you ever tried to pick up one of the display guns at the Smithsonian to check the bore?  There seemed to be more Spencer rifles this year than in the recent past--about 25 or maybe more, mostly M1860s.  Four were on one table, one of those with a descriptive sign (and price).

It was a very good time.

Many people assumed that because Custer's troops were cavalry, they were using Spencer carbines. Not the case, however, as these rifles show.
