454 jacketed Bullet
« on: December 08, 2013, 05:31:01 PM »
I posted this on another site but thought you guys would have a better handle on it. I found a 500gr. fully jacketed, ,454 cal. bullet  with a "T" impressed on the flat of the nose. Do any of you have any idea who made this bullet and what round it would have been loaded in?

I'd guess one of the English Elephant guns, I don't have my Barnes book handy with out searching, but I'd guess maybe 450 Nitro Express, I think some of those use a 0.454 bore.  Rattlesnake Jack may have a better handle, but I'm about 99% sure on it off the top of my head.

Maker, I have no idea.

Glenn, you must have read my mind.  I was thinking it's probably British as well.

Thanks for the ideas, guys. However, what was a Brit doing shooting on the sight-in range at the NRA Whittington Center last Summer? Can't imagine a real American shooting one of those Limey guns when we have so many good ones available here. Go figure! (If I knew how to put one of those smiley face imotocons on at this point, I would. However, I don't, sooooo!) BTW, I do NOT consider Jack a Limey. He's just to nice for that.
