Anybody have a link to a good website that would cover US Cavalry boots from the 1850's on to Span Am war?  I want to pick up a pair of boots but I'm not  looking for a prefect clone pair.  I want to get something that is reasonably close to issue boots.

Thanks!

Lots of reenactors wear these.  I have not, but heard good things.

Here's another site.

I have a pair of Mattimore Boots from 1895 period, but when I tried to pull up their website it gives me an out of order error message. The boots are top quality.

Thanks for all the tips on vendors.  However I was hoping there was a collector or reenactor who had put together a nice site that covers issue boots over the years.  I really don't want to drop $300-$400 on the perfect pair of boots since this is just for shooting in a Cavalry outfit.

I don't have my copies of McChristian handy to check.

Fall Creek Suttlery.  Scroll down to economy boot.  $195.  Comes either with cavalry knee cover or straight top.  I have a pair and love them.  I use them for SASS.

Out of curiosity, where are the boots made and how squared off is the toe of the boot? I bought a pair of boots from another outfit that had a really squared off toe like the front of a 75 Cadillac.
I'm looking for more of a narrower 1872 pattern toe instead of the Civil War style.

They are great, and really comfortable.  I had zero break in time.  Just put my arch support insoles and walk all day.
