I have a video by George Hurst, on custom holster making. he is using a glue in a can with a brush, does any one use this and what brand is it.

I don't know what he uses, but I use Elmer's Rubber Cement which has a brush.

Unitac with a sheeps wool pad.  Pad gets too gummed up toss it.

I buy Barge all-purpose cement in a 32 oz can that has the brush in it. Great stuff. Those cans are not normally found in retail stores. I got my last one from a leather supplier. These are a different shape can than the one I got, but I think they have the brush in them.

You may want to check with the supplier to make sure the can has a brush in it.

To buy Barge from Tandy Leather, you have to have a tax number or something else (can't remember what it is) to prove that you are a commerical business.

thanks for web site  Marshal. I have used barge for a long time but always in the tube.  the can with the brush just looked easier to put on. I get it at the leather Factory. which is owned by tandy now. but I have never seen it in the can there. So I will order some from the place you had on the web site. thanks

Glad to help, Bitterwheat. One thing that I forgot to mention is that I also have a can of Barge thinner. That comes in handy when you need to get the glue to really penetrate because it can be thinned somewhat for better penetration. Also, if you don't use it all up in a reasonable amount of time, the glue will eventually thicken and can be brought right back to the original consistency by adding thinner. The same supplier may have it, too.

FWIW, years ago a friend's wallet came apart at the spine where it was sewn. I glued it with Barge cement, hammering it good to set it. Ten years later, he showed me that he still carried the same wallet. Eventually he replaced it with a new one but the glue was still holding fast.

Ive been using Tanners bond, it is the fastest applying glue Ive ever used.  For small surfaces I use the cheep disposable flux brushes and for larger surfaces I roll it on like a wall paint with one of the small 2" craft rollers.  Once it has set well, you can figure on ruining a project rather than seperating it.  I have only been useing the white glue for about three years and longevity is questionable along with water resistance, have not tested this either.  It does well for wet molding but over time I'm not sure.

Thanks to all of you. I found some Brage Glue at the Tandy store in Orlando. They have it in the 4oz and the qt.sizes. and for Tommy they didn't ask me for any lic or any thing else

That is good.  At the local one in Missouri City I can't buy it off the shelf.  Could be a local law that I am unaware of.
