Krag cotton web sling
« on: April 11, 2021, 08:06:37 PM »
Hi to All!!  I just picked up a cotton web sling from WPG for the Krag rifle.  Anyone got any info on "How to" properly install?  Maybe one of you OLD Marines, hmmm??

Try looking up the instructions for the Kerr 'NoBuckl' sling - they're online.

This is not the Kerr sling. Different animal.  There's a tutorial somewhere for the 1899 tropical sling, see if I can find it.  But it runs thru the swivels just like the 1885 sling.
Civilize them with a Krag . . .

Thanks, St Goerge and Drydock.  1885 sling, I'll keep looking too.

Here’s one on my ‘03. Think it’s correct. Always thought it was a Mills sling.

Thanks Ed!!  By your pic I have the bottom keeper out of place.  I will re-assemble.

Saw this awhile back, and took some pictures.  Original Mills Orindorff Sling:  "Pat Mills & Orindorff"  "Pat Dec 28 80  Mar 19  89  Oct 31 93 Sept. 11 94"   Got it and the Krag sight/muzzle cover from S&S back in the mid 60's.  My Dad bought two of the Krags in the mid 30's.  He and his buddy each wanted one and his buddy bought a carbine.  Dad figured he could get two for the same price and cut one down to his liking.  His buddy paid a whopping $ 3.00 and Dad paid $ 1.50 for each rifle.  Probably about 1933-34.
