Title: 45 2 7/8ths question
Post by: Galloway on November 05, 2019, 02:35:13 AM
Been browsing through old catalogs and noticed i havent seen the 45 2 7/8th offered with any more than 105 grs with a 500gr bullet. Ive found 110gr loadings with a 293 express bullet but never the big 500 or 550s. Just wondering if anyone has thanks.

That's the way it was loaded  by the Sharps factory during it's short lifespan.

Thanks pard i wondered if maybe maybe umc or win etc, might have loaded it up with 110 and 500s. As it stands it looks like 45 4/10ths was the most powerful sharps 45 unless one handloaded.

Winchester did offer the 2 7/8 with 100 grains of powder and a 550 gr bullet.
Power wise they're all about the same from the 2.4 up.

Today most of us that shoot the 2 7/8 load depending on brand of case 100-108 gr. of powder with a 535 +- bullet.
