Thoughts on Traditions / Pietta "Frontier S A", .44Mag...
« on: October 13, 2020, 11:41:59 PM »
      Greetings!

Nothing came up on a search, so here it is: although I'm into Colt's SAA and traditional 19th Century chamberings, and handload for several, I would like a "SAA Replica" chambered for the .44 RemMag, that won't break my bank. I read an article in an older issue of Shooting Times that waxed favorably of the Traditions / Pietta "Frontier Single Action"...

              Thoughts / Opinions?

PLUS ONE too Major 2

If anyone has "it" or knows where "it" is or can get "it" it will be Pietta.  Additionally, there were some Coltish SAs made in 44 Mangelem.  Might want to watch Gun Broker too

There is also the Cimarron Bad Boy, an Uberti, but that is more of New Frontier styling than SAA.

      Greetings!

It was interesting perusing EMF Co., Inc; not too many moons ago, I used to live a few miles away from them.
In the mid 80s, I bought a second-hand EMF "Dakota" .32-20 from a retired Cop who converted his garage into a
neighborhood Used Gun Shop. I still have, and occasionally shoot, that "SAA", but the brass BS/TG were replaced
with "not-quite-right" steel replacements acquired from EMF that I draw-filed to fit... I recall that all of the EMF
Armi-Jaegers that I've seen were dimensionally "a little off", but good shooters.
Right now, the "1873 Maverick" with the 1860 Army grip frame is their only .44 Mag; don't like that grip, and
they're out of stock. I don't really NEED .44Mag power, but I like the option to handload up a bit over ".44Spl+P"
if I want it. I'll keep my eyes on the local Cabela's 'Gun Library'.

             Thanks Everybody!

You did say replica, but have you considered an Old Model Vaquero? A little larger but they did make them in .44 Magnum.

      Greetings, DKC!

Well... If the price was "right", I might consider a Vaquero. I see them come in now and then. I'd like to try one.
