Any advise
« on: May 03, 2006, 05:26:14 PM »
for a feller gettin' ready to shoot his new Henry in a match for the first time? First time with the new rifle; I've been missing steel with my 92 for years!

Thanks,

Mal

You probably know this already but it doesn't hurt to say it again.  When loading the Henry lay the rifle nearly parallel to the ground with the muzzle only slightly raised.  I put my right hand about 8 inches down the magazine so if the follower should get away it will hit my hand instead of slamming into the loaded cartridges which could cause them to fire.  Of course have the muzzle pointed down range also.

Remember to do the "Henry Hop" when the follower touches yer hand or the cartridges won't continue to feed into the carrier.

Well, having a leather glove for the hand holding the barrel may not be a bad idea...particularly if you're shootin' BP or even "Unique" gunpowder. This is one of the two main reason's I own an "Improved" Henry.
