miodification of henry to shoot blanks

Who has modified their  henry to shoot  blanks? These are generally shorter(Ie 45 schofield). I have  a taylors (uberti) 45 lc iron frame.

No modifacation is needed for 5 in 1 blanks from Dixie Gun works for your 45LC

For a 44/40 in had 444 Marlin cut and necked down to feed in my reenacting gun in the early eighties again no mods to the gun at all.

I dont think I made my question clear.

I have shot  many plastic  "5 into ones"  through  my henrys with  good results. The  plastic  5 into one  measures  about 1 1/2 inches long.

I have recently acquired  some brass "top brass 45 colt blanks". They are 1 1/4  inches long. These are black powder  blanks.

I have also  acquired  some 45lc plastic blanks that are  1 inch long.

I also have some 200 grain  45 schofield  rounds from 10X  for my handguns. It measures 1 3/8 inches long. I never tried to fire a 45 sch in my henry.

I guess my question is  who has "modified " their henry  to fire  these shorter rounds? Since I dont reload, I am almost at the  mercy of whats out there!

well I'd be intrested in what is said about in responce to this/your question...

I also have a 45 Henry ( sadly I sold the 44/40 20 years ago ) and shoot 45 Sch in my Open top & Spencer...
I guess I'll try the 45 Sch in the Henry.

I think someone here has a modified Henry, But I forgot to what fodder.

Cannon Fodder, I haven't had mine altered to feed blanks but I did have Vaughn Trueman of the Bullet Hole modify it to feed 44 Russians.  I think he could do the same to feed blaanks.  If you need his contact info let me know.

I tried to send a message to your email  but this is probably best. How does the 44/40 handle the 44 russian? I also missed some of the previous posts  by others that have  commented on this type of "modification". Can the 45lc henry be modified to handle  the 45 sch(and maybe even shorter blanks) ?

I am sure it can.  Give Vaughn Trueman a call or e-mail.  he told me he just 'adjusts the angle of the dangle"    Mine feeds 44 Russians just fine and my 66 which is a 44 spl. feeds the Russians fine also.

I think that is what I just got my hands  on in the last month. They are brass,1 1/4 in  long  with a crimped end. they sure look neat! I am going to try them  at an event this weekend.

You were shooting M.R.A.'s & not true Hollywood Brass 5-in-One's, Not 5 into 1's.

They are called 5-in-One's because they fit .38WCF, .44WCF & .45 Colt's Revolvers & .38WCF & .44WCF Rifles & Not any other combination of Calibres that others have come up w/ in Recent years. This is description of the 5-in-One Blank is Off a Box of Remington manufactured 5-in-One's w/ a 1937 date on it.

The proper 5-in-One's are made from a Thicker cased .38WCF that is the length of a Loaded round that when filled w/ FF Gunpowder or Flash Powder has a Smoothe Round Crimp w/ a pencle sized hole in the end of it for the expanding gases & Card Wad to escape through. If you use a Proper 5-in-One blank you'll Not have to modify a bloody thing on your rifle.

If ANY other calibre Brass is substituted, it is Not a Proper 5-in-One & can cause problems w/ chambering, extraction & even ignition of the Primer because the Rim diamentions are not those of the .38WCF. The Rim is Not Thick enough which causes slop between the Cylinder Face & the Recoil Shield which causes a mis-fire in revolvers & ejection problems in rifles I've attempted use them in on Productions.

As for chambering & shooting live Schofield Rounds, it all dependent on the each individual rifle as to whether or not they'll feed properly. You'll just have to go to the range & see if it will or wont or go to 1 of the Smith's recomended here & have them cheque it out for you.

Thank you for the great info. Since my last post, I did my last reenactment with 3 kinds of 45 blanks from Western Stage Props. All functioned well. I kept  "5 into ones"  in  "reserve"  by not bringing the elevator  all the way up and firing the  shorter blanks "one at a time." I have cycled about 30 45 sch rounds through  the Henry with one jam  when Henry was fully loaded. I  did not fire any 45 sch in it. I appreciate your comments on "individual rifles" and may just stick  to 45 lc for this gun.

Glad to be of help, but they are Called "5-in-Ones", as in 1 style of blank that fits 3 different calibers & 2 differnt types of firearms, 1 being revolvers, the other being rifles in those 3 different calibres.
