Title: DVD's are a wonderful thing
Post by: Pitspitr on July 15, 2006, 11:10:38 PM
Night before last I was watching Gods and Generals. I thought I saw something disturbing in one scene, so I backed it up, slowed it down and freeze framed it and sure enough one of the confederate soldiers at Fredricksburg was wearing a wrist watch. Never would have seen it watching VHS.

You think that could be why the Conderates won the battle?  They all knew what time it was....

;D ;D ;D I never thought of that ::)
No Del, just some nameless private. With Ted's ego I was always kind of surprised that he just had cameo appearances, I would have thought he would have chosen himself for R.E.Lee

I've never been able to catch it, but I understand he's wearin' one in Gettysburg. ;D

I don't own one so I will never make that mistake. ;D

I getting ready to watch it today and will look for it.  I had planned on watching it today as there is nothing on Network TV anymore.  I can't wait until payday when I can get a new batch of movies as TV has been terriable lately.  ANd I am stuck home alot this month.

He's in the botom left corner of the screen, when you can see it he's reaching behind himself for another rifle and his face isn't visible.

There is a scene in "Glory" in which one of the slave children waving to the 54th marching down a road waves and you can see his wristwatch.

When I used to do a lot of living history programs, we'd ask people to make sure they had removed their watches, etc, yet there was almost always someone who failed to get the message (or understand why) and it would be caught on camera (of course).  Kind of like having a reenactment battle and a cellphone going off...

I think we've all made that mistake...at least once. Wrist watches are my pet peeve and yet I forgot mine earlier this summer. Or there was the time I forgot to take off my sunglasses. I hate it when I do that, as should be obvious since the sunglass incident had to be 10 years ago (before I started wearing Rx glasses) and I still remember it. Fortunately one of my co-workers caught it before I got out in the public eye. (pun intended) So far I haven't forgotten to leave the phone in my pickup

One time my Yellow Igloo cooler made the front page of the Lincoln Paper in Color, way in the background.  It was not hidden that day because it was 105 and we were at an antique machinery show and the local EMT's borrowed it to have another water station.  I would have moved it if we would have thought.

Another time at Aroura at The Plainsman, we were not quite set up, but the editor of the local paper wanted a picture of me, so I sat down and started peeling potatoes.  The onions in the plastic sack were on Page 1 of the local paper that week.
