There are a number of "fur trade" types of fun shoots.
One of course is the "split the ax". Usually a double bitted ax stuck into a hawk throwing stump, with a clay bird on each side. The idea is to split the ball and brake both clay birds.
Another is to "split the playing card", only seen on its edge by the shooter. both of these are shot a pretty close range, perhaps 10 to 12 feet.
The last is to "cut the stake". Actually it is a log about the size of a rail road ty, in dia. and length, suspended from each end, with a line painted in the middle, and shot at about 25 yards. This is a team event of from 4 or 6 to the team.
For CAS I would suggest something like a 4X4 instead of 8x8. All re great fun!
