To All, The Div. of Iowa will be hosting the department muster on April 27th & 28th at the Big Springs Shooting Complex 12 miles south of Grinnell, Ia. Sat. the 27th will be 2 skirmish runs, precision pistol and precision rifle. Sun. the 28th is a one stage fun match. Round count for the main match is 60 rifle and 30 pistol. Keep in mind this is a no-miss event, plan accordingly. (Anyone remember how many ran out of ammo and had to finish the stage hand to hand last year?). Sunday's event is rifle/pistol. Round count should be about 10/10 per run depending on how you do. Lunch will be provided on Saturday, and we usually grill potluck Saturday evening weather permitting. Camping is available at the range and there are several motels in Grinnell. Match fees are $40.00 for the weekend, this includes lunch. We will do registration at 8 and start shooting at 9 on Sat. Same for Sunday's event, we will end at noon on Sun. to allow for travel.

Less than two weeks to go. The weather looks pretty good, forecast is for mid 60's to low 70's with low rain chances. A reminder that we'll be providing a grill for Sat. night, bring what you like. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Hey Al, what are the appropriate firearms for Sunday's event, GAF guns, or modern?

Scotty, pretty much run what you brung. Distance is 50 yds. max. Handgun portion about 10 yds. Rifle portion will be 40-50 yds.

Thanks for the quick reply Al, I LIKE IT!
See you guys next Friday B.N. Scotty

I just finished changing the firing pin on my 1893 Marlin. It should be back in the game. :D

Here's hoping someone will record the "goings on" for posterity and those attending vicariously.
Looking forward to the photo's :)

Al, I like your weather forecast better than the professional's, I sure hope they're wrong!

Scotty, I'm going to claim a half victory. My estimates on temp. are pretty close. On rain not so much. The forecast as of 17:50 today is- rain all day on Fri. clearing about 7 or 8 on Sat. morning and rain Sat. evening and all day Sun. With that forecast in mind, Sunday Funday will be happy fire, no organized match. We have made plans to accommodate the weather for meals. Ken and I will still be at the range Fri. afternoon, we'll make plans when everyone is there. Conditions might not be the best, but the camraderie will be ;D

What ammo do we need for the long range rifle?
Slim
-
Slim, we'll be shooting at either AR500 steel or paper. Anything short of AP will be o.k.
-
How'd it go? Any twisty wind problems?
-
Dale, we finished the match Saturday about a half hour ahead of the rain. As usual, Al and Ken did an outstanding job of coming up with a fun but challenging match. Another great shoot in the books.

I need to make that one one of these days. Glad you guys had fun!
