Marlin 336 auction gone crazy.

I just don't know what to think about this. Some are thinking it is a scam while others are saying the winning bidder is legit.

Darn it! I wouldn't have gone a penny over $9,500. Guess I'll have to wait for the next one.

The guy LIED in the auction.  Marlin is NOT out of business, just now owned by Ruger.  They are ramping up production, and the 336 is one of the models they intend start producing when they set up the new factory.  Restoring Marlin to their prior quality is one of Ruger's stated goals, as they are a non-competing product line.  Ruger is strictly Bolt center fire and semi-auto rim-fire and center Fire. Marlin is lever action center and rim-fire, and rim-fire bolt action.

Every time I see ridiculous money, paid in a sale,
I think to myself " there's a sucker born every minute"

The phrase is usually attributed to P.T. Barnum .

There’s also, ‘a fool and his money are soon parted.’ Don’t know who said that.

I recall hearing my Granddad using that quote, over 60 years ago.

So, I looked it up... It was used by a poet named Thomas Tusser in a poem he wrote called Five Hundred Points of Good Husbandry, in the year 1557. While the wording is a bit different, the expression is still similar enough to the one that’s used today:
“A foole and his money be soone at debate: which after with sorow repents him too late.

Tuolumne Lawman, Ruger already has the 1895 model in production and out to dealers. They are currently only producing the 1895 SBL Guide Gun in .45-70. Their MSRP is $1399.00, I think.
