Darn....I'm always looking for bullet options on BP.  I store my stuff in the regular Folger's cans.  ;D

Lubed with suitable BP lube I'm relatively sure they'll shoot well (his mold has nice big greases grooves). Besides, I don't think you can make a .50-70 NOT shoot well.

My 1863 Sharps Carbine 50-70 seems to shoot quite well.  Perhaps it is your loads that are the problem.
