Interesting vid, nice to see the concept in motion. I'm not sure I've ever seen a carbine with a sling swivel on the barrel band? Was this ever done in the time?

Considering that the Spencer (and later) carbines had sling rings on the left side, probably not. I did notice in the one view that the cartridges seemed to have "holes" in the back end. Might be for some new-fangled central-fire priming caps, maybe?  Doubt that will ever catch on, hmmm? In point of fact, if you are going to use such things, you better use bullets with a flat point, say, at least .210" on the meplat. Otherwise, you might set off the primer in the cartridge ahead. Such a thing is not a good idea situation in one of those Henry Repeating rifles, with the tubular magazine under the barrel. But in a Spencer, with the magazine in the stock, right next to the shooter's face, it could ruin your whole day!  :'(

Yes! And in that regard, ALWAYS use rifle primers, not the much more sensitive pistol variety.

I assume that's for the .56-type brass only (including brass made from .50-70), correct?  For those who have a replica in something like .45 Schofield or .44-40, I would think it could be dangerous using rifle primers as they might not seat flush.

Any original Spencer converted to Center fire needs a new or modified follower that has a flat nose larger than the diameter of a large rifle primer.

When it comes to bullets the meplat has to be at least 0.250" in diameter.

It is also my personal opinion that one should not use Federal primers in a Spencer. They are significantly more sensitive than other primer brands.
