Spanish Colonial Rayadillo uniform
« on: February 15, 2022, 08:44:59 PM »
I am trying to find a Spanish Colonial Rayadillo uniform, for the Museum.
Anyone know of a maker?
I'm fine with just the Tunic, for 1/2 mannequin display in our exhibit

I had reach out to one of last Spanish American reenactment groups that might still exist in Illinois.
They have not responded; it appears they may have shut down

There WAS a guy in Manilla, several years ago, but at the time I found him, his Facebook page was pretty inactive. You could post a question here: http://pinoyhistory.proboards.com/

But that site doesn't get much traffic anymore, it seems. The proper material is hard to find, too. Someone made up a uniform for the Grand Muster a few years back, but the material they found was so light, his wife made it lined so it wouldn't be almost see-through! Seems like linen fabric is only made in very light weights anymore. Maybe the material they use to make striped overalls would be closest. If you were to have one made, there was a version that had the buttons hidden, may be easier than trying to find the correct buttons.

It seems Span Am had its hay day 1997-99. I recall there were few groups around,
mostly spinoffs of existing CW reenactment units.
None seem to respond to my reaching out.
I also recall surplus Mausers then were $99 went to $300-400 by 1998, now double or more today.

Somewhere, maybe someone has an old reproduction Rayadillo uniform, and have no place to reenact anymore.
I hope the word will get out; I'd sure like to add one to our exhibit

I'd think there were at least a few reenactors that have one to sell...no soap!
I have exhausted all the leads I had...
