I want to get my registration and payment away ASAP also but, like Pitspitr, have been wondering how critical the indication of rifle choice is for the registration form.
EDIT: Checking back on the earlier postings, I'm now thinking I may have at least partially answered my own question .... Would I be correct that all we really need to indicate on the Registration is our intended "Battle Rifle Class", rather than a specific rifle? In other words, if I specify "Milspec Single Shot, Black Powder" is that the information really being asking for? (If so, that covers both my first and second choice - see below - and then maybe I could also indicate something like "Backup: Scout- Lever action pistol caliber" ... ??I have a variety of options, but the final decision (for primary choice, anyway) will depend on what I can arrange in the way of load development in the next month or so. (All of the possible choices are covered on my Form6NIA import permit, thankfully.)
I am leaning toward my .577 Snider-Enfield Short Rifle as most appropriate for my primary field uniform for this Muster attendance. The hollow-base bullet mould I have for Snider loading drops a projectile of 480 grains - right at the new upper weight limit for .50+ caliber, so I guess I'd be OK there. It will really depend on whether I can get these bullets to shoot consistently.
Failing that (and/or as a "backup" rifle) I hope to ressurect the .577/.450 load I used to do for my Mk IV Martini-Henry, with 405 grain .45-70 bullets. The final "fail safe" choice will be my NWMP carbine look-alike chambered in .45 Colt.
Well, at least I know what handgun caliber I'll be shooting - .455 Webley, of course!
(Still have a dilemna as to which revolver to shoot 'em out of, howsomever .....
)
