Clint Eastwood Signature Rig Aka Andy Anderson Walk And Draw Standard

Howdy folks

As the title topic says I am planning to make for myself and for a customer an Eastwood rig, I've ordered, from Black river laser, the gunfighting sitching template, so I'm pretty set up on making the belt itself.

My main concern is to make the holster, I never made rough out gunleather, any hint?

I've started making some fast draw holsters for customers from Chris Andrè's Slickbald patterns, there are some examples in the attachments, my idea is to edit those patterns to create the Eastwood's holster, using as a reference screenshots from the Dollar Trilogy.

Any help or suggestion is highly appreciated, if someone feels to share a pattern, I am also willing to pay for a digital pattern.

Looks good, Bruce. I don't know much about rough-out holsters but I'm sure some of the pards here will be able to tell you if there are any significant considerations to be aware of.

Most all the rough out holsters I have seen or made use a liner smooth/slick side showing. The holster is not any different to make than a regular holster other than burnishing the edges. I use a belt sander on the holster in its flat form. I square the edges, bevel, hand sand to satisfaction, then burnish.  You have to be real careful not to "smear" or mark up the rough side.
The other problem is getting a hide. Order leather to suit would be a crap shoot unless you know someone who will listen to you or knows what they are doing. From experience, rough out is not in most leather retailers vocabulary. I ordered some leather from Tandy called hide-out. They said it was the same thing as rough out. Yeah right. The customer, a brand new Cowboy Fast Draw member was very happy.

I accidentally cut out my Walker Californio holster backwards. I cut it out for a lefthnad carry, so in order to not waste a large piece of leather, I flipped it inside out and sewedd it for right hand. Now it's rough side out out and I have received several inquires how I got such a cool finish on the leather. I stained it then I coated it with Supersheen and buffed down all the fibers.

So far the pattern looks good to me. I see a lower throat curve marking on the holster. Thinking of exposing more of the gun?

That's a good-looking pattern. If that's to be used for CAS, a little higher side can be molded out a bit to help guide the pistol into the holster.
