US cartouche
« on: October 03, 2021, 03:56:19 AM »
By any chance, does anybody have access to an original civil war cap pouch that was altered for metallic cartridge use during the indian wars?
Looking for the size of the US emblem they put on the flap.
Thanks

Lords encyclopedia of the CW will list a large number of CW era contractors.
Not all of the accouterments contractors put the US on Cap pouches or Pistol Boxes.
I you left it without, it would just as correct.

Most of the original cap pouches weren't marked, and I've owned a number of them - they were contract-marked on the rear.

Those used during the Indian Wars merely had the sheep wool lining removed.
