Looking at a Smith M10
« on: September 26, 2019, 10:57:17 PM »
I'm looking at a Smith Model 10-3, with a Heavy 4" barrel. Would this be correct for Zoot Shooting? It evan has fake ivory grips!

I think the heavy barrel is an issue. Should be a pencil barrel. But, it may be overlooked.

I found a pre-Model 10, nickel plated, 4" tapered barrel, in a small gun shop east of Green Bay for $299. I just might pick that up next time I'm up there.

I?ve always liked the pre model 10 just because of the rounded front sight. 2 inchers look the best. Colts are pretty cool too.

I've owned the same Model 10 for over forty years. for most of those years this revolver has sported a Tyler grip adaptor. I recently ordered a new Tyler adaptor from the company that is now making them. Have any of you had any experience with this company?

No, but I've considered getting a couple.

Ed,

Is that an N frame you have there made into a Fitz Special?  You don't often see a Fitz on an S & W.  Do you know any history on your gun?  Who did the work and when?  That's a great look, too bad it isn't allowed at an AZSA match, you know that safety thing gets in the way.

I wish it was an N frame but it?s only a .38. It was pitted up under the horned grips so I rebarreled and fitzed it. It has an absolutely terrific trigger. I?ve shot it in our clubs 2 inch revolver shoots but it is staged on a prop for the scenario.
