I see a couple of new names I recognize from Texas ....

Blue Bonnet
Blue Eyed Caballero

These two are fine fellows, fast and accurate, too.  I look forward to shooting with them (again).

Miss(issippi) Red will be shooting, too.  We have our guns, ammo, and clothing ready.  I'm working on some accoutrements...finishing up a military flap holster and a cartridge pouch, and hopefully will get a holster or another leather item or two ready for door prizes.

Miss Red and I will arrive Wednesday night.  We may make it to the camp that evening, but definitely will be at the camp on Thursday.

Keep your powder and feet dry....

I met, and shot with Blue Bonnet (Spearman?) and Blue Eyed Caballero at the National NCOWS shoot in Indiana. Aside from being from Texas, they do indeed seem like some fine fellows!
It is far better to remain silent, and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt!

So as it stands now, I will be accompanied by the family for this assignment. Have reservations at the Rodeo Inn in Burwell for Friday and Saturday evening. Will depart from home early( Yeah, right) Thursday morning. IF we arrive in  camp on Thursday evening, we'll camp for one night. Then , after the morning Expansion stage, and probably lunch, off to the hotel to check in.

I don't remember ever getting any bites there, from either ticks or chiggers.

Main match and Expansion Era ammo loaded. If I have time, I'll load some also for the "war trophy" captured Spanish Mauser. No time for working up loads, just pick one from the book, fire 3 rounds to check for function, and fill 'em up.

We've had a hellava crop here in North Texas. Between scratching secessions we play connect the dots! Witnesses say that the big ones throw hands full of little ones at cha as you walk by. I picked up several last year at Muster. Fresh can of repellant is already in my kit.

Bluegrass has a song for everything . . .

Well, this year I made a garden, cause I heard the coons were starving
and they kindly left a thing or two for me.
So, I was out picking beans, when I felt something in my jeans
and it was uninvited insect company.

Seed Tick Blues tuck your pant inside your shoes.
It's hard to fight what I can hardly see.
I'd take Scorpions and Spiders over them little ankle biters.
Winter can't come soon enough for me.

Well I snuck off to the creek with my sweetheart, just last week.
We skinny-dipped, and then came out to dry.
On that grassy bank we laid just like two pigs in the shade.
Now, the only thing that don't itch is my eyes.

Seed Tick Blues I've got no more blood to lose.
I'm all wrapped up in gauze and Calamine.
It holds me inside, 'cause I've scratched off all my hide.
Now, if I can live till winter I'll be fine.

Yes, there's lots of things today, that help keep those bugs at bay.
But those ticks are getting smart and getting bold.
And it won't be long I figger they'll start breeding with the chigger.
Then, it won't be safe to come out till it's cold!

Seed Tick Blues, I can't knock those dang things loose.
So, dip me in that Lindane, once again.
I keep Permanone real handy eat Diazanon like Candy.
But them suckers, are still chewing on my skin.

(Tag) I say them Parasites are chewing on my skin.
Civilize them with a Krag . . .

Will make a beef stew for the main dish tomorrow night.   That should work and we'll figure out from there.

Got cornstarch to thicken it.

Was going to do some last minute vehicle maintenance chores, but we've had a regular toad strangler rain this afternoon. Guess I'll be packing and making sure I don't forget anything this evening, then the maintenance will be even more "last minute" tomorrow after work. Still hoping to leave early Thursday morning, arrive Thurs evening.
