We also had great food and presented an award to our camp fire dutch oven cook - Chauncey Whitney.  He makes the absolute best layered enchiladas and chocolate/cherry and blueberry deserts in a dutch oven!!  The skunk...well, that's another story!  Thanks Chancey for another great meal!

A big thank you to Chaplain McNutt and The Dispatcher for an incredibly fun side match called - The Six Gun - consisting of a derringer, pistol with a 12 inch barrel, Krag, Spencer, single barrel shot gun and mule eared shot gun.  They provided all the guns and ammo for this side match!!

Most challenging stage for the day included a long range pistol target - 5 shots -

The whole shoot was doable but challenging and no one shot it clean.

What a wonderful weekend.  A tad on the cool side, but the spirits were high.  The GAF Style shoots are really a hit here in Kansas because they are uniquely different and folks REALLY enjoy them.  Would like to see more of you here in Kansas for a GAF Shoot with the Capital City Cowboys as the facility and the local Cowboy support is outstanding.

Not to mention access to the Custer House Museam on Ft. Riley and historic Lawerance Kansas....Something to think about in the future.

We had about 30 shooters because of the shoot coinciding with the holiday.  It was VERY fun.  The food was delicious and every time I see the primative camping I get the itch to pitch my tent....

On the way home, Colonel Diamond and I stopped at Free State Brewery in Lawerance and had a beer to savor the weekend.  It was one of those perfect endings to a perfect weekend....Hopefully we can get more of you in Topeka in 2009.

My one complaint of the weekend is that I have lost so much weight that all of my uniforms look unsat on, but that is a good problem to have and I will be seeing Jean at James Country next weekend to talk about a new 1872 Cavalry Lt's uniform....that fits so I will be STYLING for the National in October schedule permitting.

Anyway, on a scale of 1 to 10, I give this weekend an 18 or 19 :D

Sorry I couldn't make it.  It was still a little bit cool out for me, I am STILL not completely over The Plague that passed through here recently.
