OK boys , I understand, you twisted my arm and made it very clear. Now it is up to you because there are some bits and pieces missing in a little research project:
Pictures without copyright (!) of Thomas Haas Sr. of gunsmith fame, Horacio Acevedo famous engraver, Sigmund "Sig" Shore of Shore Galleries, Lincolnwood. Ideally taken ca. 1960 and also during the 1990s.
I also like to get in touch by phone, email, skype with every pard or pardette who has solid information related to Mr. Haas and Mr. Acevedo on 2 controversal subjects:
# the making of the engraving machine for Centennial Arms Corp., Lincolnwood, during the early 1960s, to roll-engrave the Ormsby naval engagement scene on the cylinders of plain Centaure aka Centennial Army C&B revolvers. Until yesterday I was led to believe that the work was executed by Mr. Haas but there are indications that it was actually Mr. Acevedo.
# the "colterizing" of 10 to 20 Centaure aka Centennial Army C&B revolvers to make them to look like 19th century 1st gen. Colt Armies with COLTS PATENTS on the frame, Colt New York/America barrel marking, Colt style serial numbers and all that good stuff. All Belgian marks were professionally removed. Some of these pistols got traditional engraving on top or gold plated TGs/BSs, at least one got ivory grips and an ivory shoulder stock. Same story as on the engraving machine.
Thanks for helping with my research.
