New gear for The Commissary Dept

Long story (for the campfire) but it's a brand new unused 5 footer and I saved it from the trash.

That looks like something Privates might get detailed to use.

Note to self: Get some stripes for whatever uniform that will be used at the Muster. Must not appear to be a Private.

I got one too, not nearly as good condition, rusty and no handles. Came with the farm when I bought the place.

Just curious...
Isn't 'Manuel' that big guy Pitsptr hires to do 'Manual' labor for him down at the local Lowes? I hear that 'Manuel' is pretty good at handling a 2-man saw on Ditch Cedars and suchlike that grow in Pitsptr's fence rows, maybe I got the wrong guy but it sure sounds like him.
Best regards and don't forget to remind 'Manuel' to always sharpen a saw like that AWAY from himself!

Isn't that the kind that Paul Bunyon used by himself after he felled the trees in the North Woods?  ;)  Also, if you are sending a woodcutting party out to the pinery, you'd better send out a guard detail, heavily armed, in case of hostile activity! Remember to admonish the commander not to cross over the ridgeline! Remember what happened to Fetterman!  :(
Ride to the sound of the guns, but watch out for bushwhackers! Godspeed to all in harm's way in the defense of Freedom! God Bless America!

It's not for slicing bread, is it?

I've suggested you need to reduce your portions with the breads and biscuits. One should never eat anything larger than the head.

Interesting "little" saw you have there.  Didn't realize that the Commissary of the GAF was setting up a timber mill/logging business.  ;D

That looks like something Privates might get detailed to use.

Jake, short of a chain saw or buzz saw, them is the best way to cut fire wood ever, we'll have to make sure Pitspiter leaves us a few to demo.

Jerry always manages to have a good stock of wood handy for Del's fires.

He always does, but I sometimes wonder where it comes from, since other than cedars, I don't see many trees around there. But then, I'm from the Missouri Ozarks, where keeping an open patch of land open, is a constant job.

AAaaahhh! Back breaking work!

Hey! I'm only a Private for my impression! I actually was a Sergeant-type critter!

And we all know having to use things like that saw to build stuff and stay warm is just one of many reasons why most men died in their 40's back then!!!
