El Malo 2?

A local dealer has one of these. Interesting gun. Cimarron (and I presume Pietta) 45 Colt, 3.5" octagonal barrel, lowered hammer, checkered wood grips, nice coloring... are these tuned from the factory? Also, as this is a "2" model, what are the differences between it and what I'd assume is the original El Malo?

Otherwise obviously a derivation of the Cimarron Thunderer with some interesting changes.

Thanks for any helpful insight.

The original El Malo is just a standard Pietta "Frontier" single action, with an octagonal barrel.  There are two styles of El Malo 2, one with the "Thunderball" grip and one with Army grip.  Both have lowered hammers.  The Thunderball grip is Piettas version of the Thunderer grip, and is just slightly thinner.

Abilene, why did Uberti stop making the  Thunderstorm Thunderer? I assumed it was a design claim issue between pietta and uberti and pietta got to keep the flat top birdhead?
I got the last one Cimarron had a cpl years ago and I love it but I wish it had a curved trigger like the ones sold thru emf, maybe a bisley trigger

That's it
Well, as you can see, they didn't stop making it!  Finding one in stock is another matter.  ;)

Valerie had told me at the time that the few they had in stock were all that were left and I got the last stainless 4 3/4in .45. I havent seen that model in stock again since then and wondered why they kept it listed and adjusted the price even...apologies for hijacking
